I wish i could answer this, i usually have no issues shutting down the run, with similar setup, Sapp & Barmore get Inside Stuff, Chase Young & Barmore get No Outsiders and big George Karlaftis is just incredible, so he unfortunately doesn't have any dedicated run stopping abilities. I don't know what happened earlier today, but i got absolutely rumbled over by some inferior opponent, it wasn't even close. He ended up winning by two touchdowns and i'm not sure he completed more than handful of passes all game. I'm USERing Bo Jackson (ROLB) with both LurkArtist & Secure Tackler, i'm usually fairly competent about timing my dive-tackles and ensuring he goes down, but today just just carved me up, mostly through various interior runs, between the tackles... a bit of the usual RPO cheese sprinkled in.
My personal approach is to try and come out in a formation (Dbl Safety Blitz) where both Safeties automatically walk up into the box, then audible over to some pass coverage that ensures the Safeties will immediately fill their run fits, such as Cover 4 Quarters. Be careful to not press your coverage, otherwise the Safeties will go back to their default position, however you can typically pinch your D-line and crash down/inside and hope for the best. If it's stuff liek HB Stretch, you can learn to shoot the gap on a fairly consistent basis, 20 minutes in practice mode and you'll have that down for the most part, but ultimately it depends. The game can be wildly inconsistent, is it a specific formation or run you struggle against? I'm also using a fair bit of 3-4 Odd lately, it seems to do a better job against the run, assuming i remember to pinch my D-line in time. I hate to give up the extra Zone KOs on defense (bringing in linebackers instead of six DBs), but getting those bigger bodies on the field does seem to help a bit, although the usual Dollar culprits (DB Fire 2 & FS Zone Blitz) can also be quite good against the run. Hope something contained here is helpful to you.
