I am surprised at how many people don't know what the abilities or ratings/traits do

There are resources on MUT.gg...there are resources within the game , etc. but I see a lot of people misunderstanding what a lot of abilities, traits, and ratings mean.....

I see people writing things like Deep Route KO is better than Deep Out Zone KO because it covers ALL routes. One is used in man cvg , one in zone....really not comparable in that sense.

Another example....someone wrote that a particular WR was not good because his makes possession catch trait was "no". Unless you are allowing the CPU to catch the ball for you this is not relevant.

Good tips Marty. A lot of players need to carefully read ability descriptions before selecting them, so they fully understand their purpose and how they fit their scheme.

It benefits those of us that play them in H2h but I thought I should post something to help .

See, that's what I mean. I just had some guy tell me he played against a Tristan Wirfs with Secure pro and lifeguard. Wirfs was at his tackle position. Why would you use Secure pro for 1 AP when he gets Edge pro for 0?

Unless you are playing him OOP at G or C, EP does the same thing for 0 AP.

People just don't bother to do any research on these.

uh actually I vastly prefer secure protector personally. It holds the pocket against non ability edge rushers too. In that case tho I feel like edge pro and nasty streak for 1 would have been a better combo? I don’t remember wirfs ability buckets perfectly but secure protector also helps the first shed in the run game I believe, neutralizing inside stuff and no outsiders

OKAY so I just checked it and yeah you were right I was wrong 👊 (that’s a fist bump not a punch). I still personally prefer secure protector in case I block my tight end or run the ball, but in the passing game without a tight end blocked yes, they are the same ability. i kind of think of it like pass lead elite versus set feet lead? 90% of the time they’re the same but for similar AP (I only use 1 AP SP and I can’t afford the 0 AP EP) I like having that extra 10% of the time if that makes sense. Thanks for teaching me something !

Yeah I like SP on all of my line. It helps out more often than not when you can shut down any rushing

Absolutely.  1 AP secure is much better than 0 AP edge.  Now, if someone's running 1 AP edge instead of 1 AP secure, that's a different story.

It's really not better though on your  Tackles. Unless you  play someone with terrible edge rushers.

The only difference is that SP protects from quick sheds anywhere on the O line and EP protects against the same exact thing from the edge. I mean, I have watched multiple people lab this and have done so myself. The reaction of my O tackles on the edge with EP vs SP against a good pass rusher is the exact same. 

Right from multiple sources:

Secure Protector is basically Edge Protector, but it works anywhere on your offensive line.

SP is great on interior linemen....Guys like Grimm, Matthews, and Yanda for example who are my Guards and my Center. But I won't waste the AP on my Tackles if they get 0 AP EP
