I have a question regarding abilities that are trait-related...

So I've seen this with another player and ability (can't remember who and what, another RB probably), but now it comes up again. 

Ricky Williams campus hero. In his Traits, he has 'NO' next to 'RAC Catches'. For (discounted) abilities, he has 'Grab-N-Go' for 1ap. Now, click on GNG and the description reads: 'After securing a RAC catch, ballcarriers with this ability can quickly shift momentum, change direction, and turn the corner without sacrificing speed.'

How can this possibly be, if he can't secure RAC catches in the first place? Nevermind the fact that it shoulda been Joystick or Juke Box for 1, but wouldn't the NO in that particular trait render that whole ability useless? Or does equipping the ability allow him to RAC catch? Just another small inconsistency on EA's part.

Thats because the computer wont auto RAC, but since you would manually RAC him you would be able to.

I see. So traits really only apply to the CPU? Did not know that.

Depends on what it is. 

If its a physical move, its auto. Stuff like Dline moves/plays ball in air/etc. 
If its an action, then its only player.  RAC catches and other types of actual actions are play only.

In a way, I think this is instructive for players, particularly those new to Madden. This mentions traits (which I didn’t really look at until the Hurts paranoid thing clearly was an issue). some people probably also need to understand that it goes for abilities too. The RAC em up (and others) are only good when you’re doing that type of action in game, FYI. Hope this helps somebody. Heard about traits elsewhere and it kind of opened my eyes a bit.

As an example, a CB or a Safety that has the plays ball in air "aggressive" trait versus "conservative" will go and try to make the INT while the other card won't. 

Big hitters will cause more fumbles whether or not you are using them. 

Senses pressure affects the QB even if you are using him. 

But some traits such as RAC or possession are overriden when usering the card ... it's a little tricky because sideline catch trait has an effect even if you click on to the receiver, whether he taps his toes in bounds or not and gets the animation.
