If your in your playoffs in the 4th quarter with 2:40 left but your down 40 points are you staying or leaving?
News flash, ur playing an 8 year old who doesnt care about the score
I was winning a game yesterday 40-7 with 4:00 left in the 2nd quarter. I naturally paused to see if my opponent wanted to concede. Of course he wanted to keep playing just to waste as much of my time as possible. He proceeded to intentionally pitch the ball into the end zone every time he touched it. I scored another 40-some points from fumble recoveries in his end zone. Finally I got the ball on offense and tried to run clock and he eventually quit just before the end of the first half.
I don‘t ever care if someone wants to stick around and play as long as they want but this guy was blatantly just trying to waste my time. Very painful and annoying. I was trying to get 2 more champs wins before it reset that morning otherwise I would have just quit and found another opponent.
It's "you're" and it's not your opponent's responsibility to care about your time. If you feel like your time is being wasted, YOU are free to quit any time you choose.
If your position on this is a blanket, ”Everyone has the right to play the game the way they like,” you are ignoring examples like the one given above that can allow a vindictive player the ability to drag the game out badly.
No joke, you can do some dumb stuff and eat three minutes of real-life clock while running off barely twenty seconds on the game. There are plays you can call on fourth down where you can pretty much guarantee that your opponent finishes the play with a touchdown, and is forced to kickoff again. (The correct call in that case is to onside, and then run clock if you can.)
It is a perversion of the game for a knucklehead to be able to literally run life’s clock for an hour or more and force players trying to make progress to quit a game they are winning handily.
I chew clock after a certain gap
If you PA the game 1 play defense whole the game free card 99s you deserve it
Just put up stats toward the pass. Who cares.

You’re not getting it. At all. I guess it’s never happened to you. And I suppose if it has, you consider it a once-off. On multiple occasions over the months I’ve had people pull stuff like what the OP described. When you have to quit and take as a loss a Champs game your opponent has conceded but doesn’t actually quit themselves, it deprives you of the enjoyment of something you paid your fair share of money to play.
I’ve never seen people complain about the P2P griefing triggers. What’s being discussed is an equivalent issue, but the opponent doesn’t get kicked out of the game.
If you know all of this and don’t accept that it’s an issue, you’re ignoring a real issue because it hasn’t affected you. And perhaps some here actually pull that stuff because they’ll try to accumulate wins by any means necessary, including by non-football measures when they are otherwise inadequately capable for the matchup at hand.

Hard to chew clock when your opponent plays in such a way that you never get the ball on offense, except off a successful onside kick. It is possible to run the game thirty minutes while only a single quarter elapses.

No. The OP simply said he was up by 40 points. He said nothing about his opponent griefing or trying to glitch the game.

Mb, he was taking timeouts in the final minutes of the game when I had ball, and he would just run hail mary in the whole second half.

But then he can't flex how good he is at running RPOs
LOL crying about your time being wasted. What do you think all games do?
You had at least six possessions to kill the clock. 40/6 = 6.66.
Sounds like the person was trying to figure out how to limit something similar happening in the future.
You could very likely have been playing a kid too. Mine were getting on at eight and competing/beating people. Also taking some. Hell how else do you learn?
Life doesn’t always give you what you want. Do some self reflection and help yourself figure out a way to move the game along and expect no one is going to just quit. What a loser mentality. Just quit lol.

Meh, I conflated the OP's post and SlowandSteady's. I think you understand the point under consideration, but apparently want to tacitly support griefing. Thanks man. Great for the community.
