Is it just me or is SFL overrated

I feel like since SFL came out I’ve been throwing way more interceptions. Especially with Mahomes, idk if it’s his release but I can’t stop throwing picks with him. anyone else feel this way?

Nope you have to get used to the better timing on throws

I don't think it's overrated. Like Kaotikords said you have to get used to throwing with it. Not sure if it works this way this year, but last year one of the side effects of SFL was that your throws didn't have much of an arc to them compared to throws without SFL. Just have to get used to that.

Yes. I went back to GS and Gift Wrapped and used the extra 1 AP elsewhere.

Yeah I’ve noticed that too, so how can you throw a bullet over the top with it?

Maybe if you free form/high ball it? Admittedly, I could never find anything that was super consistent with all the KOs last year which is the main reason I stopped running it.

SFL is the most OP ability on offense, you just have to get used to it. And also it does not work if your QB is moving..so you have to be aware to stop before you throw . Also it only works on bullet passes.

Honestly the problem may be Mahomes more than SFL. He missed a lot of throws for me; some players know how to use him well but I did not find success with him.

With SFL there are throws that you can make that could not be made in Madden 24 before. There are passes that can be fit into spaces only with SFL

SFL is absolutely the best ability at higher levels of play. You need that velocity to complete passes vs Zone KOs. Non-SFL passes hang in the air too long.

I think the better question is whether GS is actually necessary with SFL. GS can help in certain situations like deep passes vs a zero blitz, but isn’t important otherwise. That 2 AP can be used in way more powerful ways.

the issue is with mahomes, ive never used a mahomes card that was better than average, SFL is one of the best abilities in the game

I thought so too but most of the MCS guys  used Mahomes it seems. For me he misses too many throws

The best way to defend a SFL passer is to keep your user, ideally someone tall with lurker (like Hendricks) in between them and their target, even if their target is  20 yards behind Hendricks the INT is available.

Interesting, i'm going to suggest the weird hitch in Mahomes release might be the actual issue.  I've been using Kurt Warner and holy hell, i feel liek these velocity abilities (SFL/PLE) are massively over-powered.  Kind of surprised to see folks mention they're overrated.  I was hoping we'd make it til around the Superbowl before seeing these in-game.

Acquiring Kurt Warner (GS, SFL + GW = 7AP) was literally game-changing for me, my passing game came alive and i started tossing significantly less picks and started winning a lot more often.  I've never once completed any House Rules, but over the long holiday weekend I managed to put up 50 Blitz wins (to acquire Mims) and 45 Harvest House Rules wins to get my second turducken component.

Although, I also had a 99 SPD John Madden running OOP at TE1, so i was cheesing folks for at least ~half the weekend.  All that being said, I am just now trying to convert to the Michael Vick freebie, to see how QB Playmaker and HRM are.  Having both (SFL & HRM) would obviously be ideal, but i think Aikman is probably the best way to achieve that at the moment.  YMMV.

There's your problem (Mahomes) Horrible release. Try Aikman, Marino or AR, and you won't have that issue.
