At what point in the year can truly decide that mut year to year is trash or not? With gameplay and content all involved in the decision. Is end of yr the only time it can be concluded?
mut is a terrible mode. it is driven by addiction and time-money conversions in your mind. in reality you should never grind and could get the content you want way faster by just working a job and spending the money earned. mut just makes you a slave to the game. stay away if at all possible.

I can tell you right now that MUT is not good, but as with many/most things, that all depends on your rating scale or ranking system.
Do you enjoy and prefer; fun, fair, balanced and competitive gameplay? MUT is not that.
If you don't mind a pay to win, buggy ass mess, well -- MUT might be enjoyable if you have a ridiculously high tolerance or pain threshold. Combine the toxic ass community that EA has managed to produce here, well... that's just the icing on the cake. I haven't heard (let alone been called) the n-word this much since I was in liek elementary school, my goodness.
Obviously these are my own reactions and opinions, but I can say with complete confidence that MUT is not, nor will it EVER be a truly good game... not as long as EA retains their exclusive licensing rights with the NFL. All that being said, I did my best to avoid another cycle of this madness, but i am currently caught up in the hype machine. Pre-order was dropped finally (against my better judgement) a couple weeks ago. See many of you on Tuesday for M25 pre-release window.
I'm cautiously optimistic that there will be SOME way to find decent gameplay this year, now that there is a basic ranking system. I doubt EA will able to execute their vision for ranked H2H play, but it's long overdue as a feature. Don't want to gush too terribly much or heap immense praise for them finally doing the bare minimum, but this is minor progress.
I think that MUT is addictive. I have always thought that MUT is good, and have enjoyed playing it. However, after a taking a short hiatus and coming back, I realized just how toxic and corrupt it really is. Video games are meant to be fun, and not spending thousands of dollars and getting spammed by cheese blitzes and people with vanguard on every offensive player. I have been nms for this whole year, and it is really tough to be competitive without investing a lot of time and energy into boring solo challenges or objectives. Overall, it is not fun to play, and honestly somewhat depressing. I hope to not buy the next madden, but I don’t think I’ll be able to resist buying it when it gets to be a great deal. I am definitely going nms and I hope that I will just play it for fun occasionally. The problem is, EA unfortunately knows what they are doing. You can’t really play MUT like that without spending a lot of money. It’s an endless loop. The new madden is going to be released soon. EA says that that this year will be different. The game drops and it is slow, not fun, the content sucks, and there’s some weird glitch that screws the game up for the beginning. Middle of the year is the best. It plays well but isn’t totally overrun by cheese plays and overpowered cards. This gets you hooked and you start to play more. Cards get more op and you want them, thinking it is fun. However, this leads to the game becoming unbalanced, filled with glitch plays and op cards and not fun. Repeat. MUT isn’t fun. It is addictive.
In short, EA is smart and they get us hooked on an addictive game, encouraging us to spend a lot of money. The game itself is filled with overpowered and glitched plays and cards are broken. It is addictive, not fun. (Unless you don’t play h2h, at which point it can be okay but very repetitive and boring)
Peak mut is from launch until after Christmas, then it starts getting annoying

I'm the polar opposite. For me, absolute peak MUT experience (as fun as fun and overall gameplay "balance" -- i know, har har, nothing about this game is fun, fair, nor balanced -- let alone truly competitive, but let's pretend for a moment)... anyway, my absolute peak MUT experience the past two years in a row (M23 & M24) was late JAN/FEB as we head into Superbowl time.
Sure i got caught up in the Niners hype making it back to the big dance, only for BananaHands to choke yet another double-digit lead, but the game was awesome then, but i was totally pay to win. Both years that's around the time i've been able to build out max 99 SPD teams, before most other people were able to reach that mark. In M23 it was straight up 50/50 49ers theme team that allowed me to get my skill position players to max 99 SPD weeks before the masses and then this year it was via running full 70/70 Superbowl squad (which i proceeded to use for the next 2-3 months, no cap). Zooming around with a 99 SPD linebacker as my user was a lot of fun and those Light it Up tokens were ridiculously pay to win.
Wasn't particularly fair, but it did require a bit of squad building knowledge to truly min/max a team and the advantages were obvious. Looking back, that shit was so clearly pay to win (especially this year), but it was difficult to not enjoy rolling over boyz.

This is one of the best, most accurate and concise summary of the current state of MUT, or even the broad video games industry. It's almost as if EA is taking advantage of a wholly unregulated casino for children. Ever noticed how EA will never ever ever say these are "cards" (people gamble with playing cards) and they're not loot boxes, they're just fun little surprises, right? Uggh, you are so spot on correct here in basically everything you've stated. EA knows exactly what they are doing and continue to extract as much value from the community. The gloves were off last year and it became blatantly obvious they were never going to try.
This year they're talking about the massive amount of content they dropped last year, "over fifty promos" (i think they even used the term unique, but that's where i draw the line) -- they copy/pasted the same bullshit stuff week after week after week, just reselling us literally the same players over and over and over and laughing all the way to the bank. This year they're going to ramp it up even more, now 8 full seasons (instead of 7 from MUT24).
They've got a literal decade worth of community feedback they continue to ignore, so many bugs and glitches that get brushed aside, while they waste limited Dev resources on creating new menus every year and selling us back some minor changes with physics or gameplay as BOOM Tech or Field Sense 18.0, whatever meaningless marketing speak terms their brainless middle management executives decide to slap on it. More lipstick on a pig.
The game is a bad, buggy ass, broken, inconsistent mess. This is a true case study in how or why monopolies are bad, but FREE MARKET, BABY!~ 😡 We'll just vote without dollars and go play the other awesome NFL simulation games, right? Riiight? Is this real life?
