So i'm trying to setup my RBs up the way i Want them. I have unstoppable Henry and foster. I am trying to get it set so that henry is starter and foster backup on running formations and vide versa for passing . So in that case I would put henry as starter and foster as backup right? then 3db would be foster starter and henry at backup but when i try to quick sub it doesn't work how i would like it. what am I missing?

Could be your playbook. Some playbooks have your HB1 in on certain shotgun formations instead of your 3rd down back. Also in case you aren’t aware the 3rd down back is in on most shotgun formations only, regardless of down. Not singleback or anything from under center.

I played around with it. Didn’t know playbooks could affect it.
