Thinking about putting Bolles at Center so I can get Identifier. Currently running Humphrey playoffs with no ability. Does anyone know if there's any negatives when playing a lineman out of position?
I was going to post the exact same question. I sold off Dexter when I though we were getting a free Kelce.
So far so good with Bolles but I suspect I will have a better feel after MUT Champs this weekend. I have secure on him for 1AP in addition to identifier.

Ahh I gotcha. Ya I'm interested in it w/o SP. Don't have the AP but have it on all the other lineman.
there is no difference other than the OVR that shows , this has been proven many times over this year
although its probably better to have a guy with free post up at center like that colts gaurd and then put boles at guard
I have run linemen out of position since MUT was a thing, and have never noticed any issues running them OOP
Unless you care about OVR (I never have), I dont see a downside if it allows you better abilities seeing thats all that matters

I think this is an absolutely fantastic idea and one i've seriously considered myself. I was going to slide big Q over to play (OOP) at Center, then use the Bolles (LT) also OOP at LG, which would allow me to save some AP, as i'm currently running Creed with 2AP Secure Protector. My ultimate goal is to get five-wide SP across the entire O-line... almost there, well 80% of the way. Still have big Larry Allen at RG, he's got 98 STR on my Niners (25/50) hybrid TT, but sadly, only gets 1AP Post Up, not SP.
I am not aware of any potential drawbacks to playing linemen (or any player, really) OOP. The stats and abilities are all exactly the same, despite the OVR rating often tanking when placed out of position. It's extremely common for the legit Comp scene players to run DBs out of position, often placing corners at Safety, or vice versa. I briefly tried running Omniscient on big Q (LG), however 2AP was a bit steep, i've since adjusted to Secure Protector (1AP) plus 0AP Post Up, which i believe would make him an excellent Center (so Post Up can help dominate both directions against Dollar formations). Not quite there yet, but i've been debating (with myself) almost the exact same idea OP suggested here.
Let us know how it works out for you, abilities are and remain everything in this game. Identifier is super sweet, IMO... although still feels a bit of a luxury. Don't snooze on how truly important Secure Pro is against countering (or at least slowing down) the X-factors, such as Unstoppable Force & Colossus stuff that so many people are running these days.

Damn that was a fire answer. Thanks man. Last question. I had Linchpin on Havenstein but downgraded him to get the 96 player back and sell for coins. I currently run Q with SP and Linchpin. You think moving him to center and putting post up is more valuable than linchpin?
If you got the 96 BND Kelce before he left the store, he's a natural C that gets 0AP Identifier. Obviously its too late to get him now if you missed out though

I think the only negative would be team chems. I was able to put Quenton Nelson at LG2 so he still got team chems, and then put him at my starting right guard until I saved up enough to get an actual starting right guard

That depends. Linchpin ONLY helps with the run-block timers, it does nothing to improve the pass game blocking. If you enjoy toting the rock a fair amount, you might appreciate having that Linchpin around. Post Up is the only other O-line (blocking related) ability i've seriously considered running all year. In a perfect world, we'd have Post Up on both Guards, but in the event you can only run a single Post Up, typically it's best on the Center.
Just my two cents, as with many things, it depends. The EA provided description of what Linchpin does is insufficient, IMO. Please refer here: https://www.abilities.fyi/abilities/linchpin
Description: Players with this ability grant improved blocking to the entire offensive line.
Running_BlockShedInitialTimerPenalty
Running plays block shed initial timer penalty.
BTW, extremely strong name you have there, if i do say so myself, mister Pat. ♡♡♡

Whew, I just pulled Greg Van Roten (RG) from the 95++ pack offer, finally nailed my five-wide Secure Pro. Good luck to you, Pat.
