Madden 25 is not far away – hopefully it will be good 😊
Some new features are promising – the vids I have seen so far made me think about features I would like to see in a future madden…
1. Stats penalty when using the same play
Most of the frustrating posts I have read in this forum is about people running the same META plays which are very hard to defend. In my point of view the only solution to bring more variety back to Madden is to include a penalty on the player stats when using the same play / formation more frequently. 2. Pass / run commit
This function should only increase the respective defense (pass / run) slightly but also add a severe penalty on the other side. Eg when you pass commit you should have a severe penalty against defending the run.
3. Run commit – reduce selections
At the moment you need to guess three different run types against only one pass type (pass / inside run / left side run / right side run). There should be an option to just run commit or rather to commit against inside or outside runs (not additional selection of left/right)
4. Replay of last snap during play selection
Football is much about adjusting to the opponent and to his defense / offense (quarterbacks always checking the replays of their last drives during the game). To add this element to Madden it would be nice if you see the last snap / replay as continuous loop during the play selection screen. The bottom part of the screen could be for the play selection and in the upper part of the screen you would be able to analyze your last snap and check e.g. which defense was used or which player(s) were wide open.
5. Salary cap in MUT
I really like MUT and building my own team. But in the end the team is most of the time very homogenous and the difference in the OVR of the different positions is around 2-3 points. Football is a lot about creating mismatches and building a team which fits to your play style – you cannot have good players on all positions. Currently this is mainly done by using specific abilities (e.g. run or pass focused abilities).
I would like to have also a salary cap in MUT and players with a higher overall rating costs more. This would bring much more variety to MUT since you will play against much more different teams and not always against the same players – it would also make the Theme Team boosts much more interesting/valuable.
EA could still earn lots of money (what they obviously want and that’s somehow ok) with a salary cap MUT:
- LTD could have lower costs
- The contract fees for players could decrease over the season. E.g. an OVR 86 would cost 10 Mil in September and a newer release 86 OVR in December would costs only 5 Mil. This would still force everyone to frequently update the team.
6. Abilities:
Often discussed – I also would favor less abilities with lower impact and not so much ability points
7. X-Factors:
Often discussed –should be removed – If not at least please please remove this overpowered X-factors activating frequently during a match.
So, this would be my wish list. I know the probability of seeing some of the features in a future Madden is low but at least I have written it down 😊
