Offensive AP Necessities

When you're starting a team or building a budget team, there's certain abilities you're going to need to have a chance in head to head, for offense and defense. These are the offensive ones.

Offensive Tackles - Edge protector (or Secure protector). Many people have edge threats or edge threats elite. Edge protectors will give you time to make those short reads needed to beat man coverage. Cheap Edge protector tackles are Andrew Thomas 90 and Tristan Wirfs 90.

Pass catchers (WR, TE, HB) - Short In Elite. This is the best way to beat man coverage, and if you have a budget team, you'll most likely face some man coverage. This ability will get you a little bit of separation on route cuts, as well as give you boosted catching.

QB - Set Feet Lead. This ability will give you boosted ball velocity, which will let you throw tighter windows. This is crucial in Madden this year. 

Other high-end abilities you should consider running if you can afford them are Fearless (no QB pressure in the pocket), TE Apprentice (four extra hot routes for the TE when lined up as a TE), Post Up (Blocking wins when in a double team).

PLE/HRM for QBs

RT/RZT for pass catches

Threat Detector for OLine (not over EP/SP but still good to have)

Maybe some I listed are not as necessary as others, but they are still nice to have if possible.

And Identifier is always good to have as well in order to see who is being user'd

Yea I like those. However a lot of budget cards (or older cards) can't get those at a great discount, if at all. I was morely trying to stick to the absolute necessities, like if you run no other abilities, run these one to have the best chance. I may add some of those into the last category of "run them if you can afford/access them" though. Thanks for the suggestions!

I’m not huge on Short In Elite because I feel like a decent user can cover most of those routes easily. for pass catchers, I’d change it to Route Technician because every single route they run will give them separation off the cut. HRM is huge to me personally and I would argue it’s necessary because the post and crossing routes are effective man beaters and they can completely change the look of a play. But I like the way you think overall. nice write up!
