OOP and secondaries

So, with this Mike Evans, I see out of position is a thing. Again, new to MUT, so wasn’t sure. How many OOPs do they normally do? Cent say I’m a fan of them from other modes. Is it a big part of Madden?

Also, I’ve heard references to secondary positions. what does that mean for MUT? Where do we see their secondary positions and what does it mean? Does it mean their ratings stay the same in other positions? Does it mean their chems stay in secondary spots? How many guys have secondaries and how can you tell? Does it just mean those secondary positions that they qualify for (Like a C being able to ply G)?

They mostly come from the ZC promo and GTs. 

They still work the same way as other normal cards do in that spot. So even if hes FS he can play there, sub, ss, cb etc.

OOP players are definitely going to be a big part of MUT in the coming weeks. Usually, the upcoming zero chill promo is when we get the a big batch of them. Not sure how many but I would expect around 20 or so of a variety of ovrs from zero chill. OOP players are usually pretty rare outside of zero chill but ultimate legends sometimes features them. There's also the backyard ballers promo which comes out after the super bowl and only has oop cards.

Normally if you play a card outside of it's listed position it won't contribute any team chems that it has. So if you play sean taylor at cb you won't get his commanders chem. If you equip a cards secondary position it will now use contribute it's chems. But if you equip the cb secondary position on Ronnie lott and play him at cb you will receive his 49ers chem. Like team chems, there is a bucket to change secondary positions if a card has them

Thanks for the insight. Do OOP become overpowered (which I’ve seen in other games) or are they just on par with others at the position and you can choose not to use OOP.

So, using someone in their secondary position, ratings don’t change but they keep their team chems? Otherwise, if they don’t have secondaries, they lose the team chem in a secondary? Is there a way to see who qualifies at secondaries? Just on here?

when a card gets an OOP they don’t normally get a secondary position if it’s a player who normally plays the other side of the ball. 

Evans will only get FS. you can then play his OOP, OOP lol. He works like a normal FS, can play at CB, FS, SS or Sub LB. His team chem just won’t apply if you play him outside FS1 or 2.

You can use one player on O and D. E.g. you can play both his WR and FS card at the same time. If he got an OOP HB card, you can not play his HB and WR together.

Isaiah simmons madden 23 card was the only OOP player from memory that got a secondary FS chem when he was a SS. this is because technically he was a hybrid LB/S. 

Secondary position chems are really not that important unless you run a tight theme team

It really depends on the card but yes OOP does tend to create some op cards. The FS Mike Evans is actually a great example of an OOP card that a lot of people would consider to be on the more op side of the spectrum of OOP. Other examples include QB Derrick Henry and FS Julius Peppers. But for every OP card we usually also get something like WR Deion Sanders. WR Deion is a good example of an OOP who most would consider on par with the other players at his position. A lot of oop where the player goes oline to dline and vice versa also fall into the category of on par with their position.

Yes it's my understanding there's no ratings penalty for playing someone at their secondary position. Yes you can check on here for players with secondary positions

justin reid did like one kickoff last year for the chiefs and got one. Ogunbowale definitely needs one

Out Of Position (OOP) Players:

• OOP players have typically come from the following programs in recent years:
  • Zero Chill
  • Golden Tickets
  • Backyard Ballers
  • Ultimate Legends
  • MCS
  • You may or may not see OOP players sprinkled across other programs (Examples: Gridiron Guardians featured a few "Alter Ego" players like WR Sauce Gardner; TOTW has had an OOP in Madden 23, Justin Reid, and Madden 23, Dare Ogunbowale).
• Keep in mind that you are only able to use one of the same player on each side of the ball (you can use a player at WR and CB if they have an OOP card, but not at WR and TE).
• Certain OOP cards have been overpowered in the past. Some examples of this include:
  • WR and CB Ed Too Tall Jones in Madden 22
  • CB Harold Carmichael in Madden 23
  • QB Derrick Henry in Madden 22
  • FS Julius Peppers in Madden 23

Secondary Positions:

• Players with secondary positions can be placed at said secondary positions without losing their Team Chemistries. There overall will go down, but that will have no effect on the player as stats will remain the same.
  • Example: 92 OVR Harvest Deion Sanders (CB) has FS and SS secondary positions. His OVR will lower to 81 at FS and 82 at SS. His stats will remain the same and he will NOT lose any Team Chemistries. If he did not have one of these secondary positions (or neither), then he WOULD lose his Team Chemistries.
• Secondary positions are listed on each player page underneath where it says "Out-of-Position OVRs".
