as of right now, what team overall is considered ”good”, or good enough to play online h2h
I'm 86 ovr and doing fine. Now that 90 ovr is possible, you probably want to be 84+ to keep up.

Ovr helps but stick skills are more important.

You got some tips on that?

Invest in offense
call random defensive plays and pray for a mistake
Those are my tips.
I'm 86 ovr and I just won my first MM
I think just playing online and learning the people you are playing tendencies. You will face a lot of people which will help you get better, but you will face a lot of players running the same plays. I’ve seen people with lower overall beat the best teams. So OVR doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to win or compete

I'm so lost on defense rn it's not even funny
Honestly im an 85 and im doing just fine. Just went to my first SB of the year this weekend. You just have to play well.
If you are willing to upgrade your players it will help you be more competitive. I personally do not want to spend training yet since there are better players every week and I am constantly upgrading my team, but some of the people doing Head to Head have spent on upgrade items like "shutdown", etc. and it gives them an advantage. I played a couple MUT Championship games this weekend and had a very difficult time passing against the defenses I faced. Their Defensive Backs were not stock players. LOL
First, I think it's not just OVR. For example, you can have a 90 OVR team that is not right for the style you play. I have seen guys get the highest OVR possible but use a power HB and then try to run elusive plays. Or put a pass coverage LB with 90 zone and like 65 PMV and FMV and use them in a 3-4 as a pass rusher.....
So it really depends on who you play. You can beat a player who has an 88-90 ovr team if you are significantly better a the game. IMO you're usually not going to beat a good player who runs a solid scheme with an 88-90 OVR team if you are sitting at 85 OVR or something unless you are significantly better.
I think at this point in the game you would want to be at 87 OVR or so. Just my opinion
I'm 86 and in legend tier

Me too man. Maybe i'm just trash at the game lol
I'm 87 ovr. I do well in the seasons and MUT Champs. I've won 2 Super Bowls, lost one and had a few 6-1, 7-2 type seasons. I have a different style of offensive scheme than 98% of people so that gives me a big advantage. I rarely turn the ball over and manage the clock well. So many people run some type of nickel or dime all game so what do I do? I run it down their throats with 2 TEs or 2 RBs till they change defenses lol. It can be viewed as "boring" by some, but its really effective. A lot of players get into trouble by trying to score on every play instead of taking what the defense gives you. Its fairly easy to play against a lot of offenses. You're going to see the same stuff a lot of games... Deep crossing routes, roll outs, mesh routes, etc.

Well, you would be able to move the ball and score on any defense right now in Madden. Defense is pretty much non-existent. You'd be able to run the ball against a 5-2 with run commit these days. No point changing defenses against the run. It's not necessarily that your scheme is unusual or OP, lots of people are run heavy - it's that defense has been nerfed.
If you're stopping people on D then odds are they're not running a very strong offense. Watch any of the streamers or MCS guys...they are scoring on basically every possession
