Question for Unstoppable Force X Factor

I know there is like a 3 play or 5 play cool down before it activates again but do Maniac and Groot for example have to be on the field during the cool down or will those not count as downs for them unless they are in the game? Thank you

All the X-factors need downs played by that player.
