Red zone catching question

Might be stupid but does the pass have to be thrown in the red zone or just caught?    

If I throw it from the 35 to the 15 does that count or do they all have to be thrown inside the 20 as well?

Asking for Hail Mary purposes…

RZD- Passers with this ability have perfect accuracy on all unpressured throws inside the red zone (except on high/low throws).

RZT- When in the red zone; receivers with this ability have a better chance to win contested catches against single coverage.

I get that but does the throw have to come in the red zone for RZT or just the catch?

I could be wrong but I think it has to be thrown within the 20 yard line for the ability to activate.  I was testing this out last night with Kyle Pitts in practice mode.  It was consistently activating when I was throwing it to him on the 10 or so yard line.
