First off, for anyone who is a Madden connoisseur and watched the MCS last night...pretty hard to not be impressed by Jonbeast. Really tough player, congrats to him.
However, as a former pro player who has made multiple live events and an MCS finals, I have a few issues:
Back when I was playing competitively, I was a huge proponent of removing/banning all glitches/exploits from the game...especially in the MCS. I also helped to get zones fixed to where cloud zones would play corner routes, hard flats would jump flat routes etc.
Apparently stem glitching was banned from the MCS, but only after allowing them in the ladder phase of the most recent tournaments. You also have popular streamers and high level pro players bragging about stem glitching their way to 16 wins in MUT Champions. Can someone explain why this exploit is banned for use in the MCS, but allowed in online play?
Also, a few years back EA programmed "nano-detection" into the game, where if anyone glitched through the line instantaneously...they would freeze in place. It wasn't the best fix, but at least it was clear EA was taking a hard stance on attempting to remove glitching/exploiting from Madden.
Fast forward to this year, with almost everyone running double mug. To me, rushing 4 and instantly getting someone shooting through the A-gap is an exploit, and should be considered cheating. This blitz, along with similar glitches should not only be banned from the MCS, but in online play as well...at least until EA can find a way to patch them.
Is there something I'm missing? Glitching/exploiting is not skill. Top players bragging on Twitter about cheating in online play is pathetic.
Why does it seem like Madden has taken a few steps back, especially after it was trending upwards for a few years?
