gameday 98 on ps1 was crazy you could spam juke all the way up the field
Terryfying said:I'm sorry, are you complaining that EA nerfed the cheese blitzes that had guys running free at the QB every play while saying that the game ISN'T skill based?Â
...weird.
Not at all. Â I'm merely pointing out that shortly after the community figures out a countermeasure to shift the balance of power somewhat in the direction of defense... EA is all over it with a patch. Â I personally hate exploits of any kind. Â Yet I would say in 90% of my games I play now, my primary focus is:
a) does my opponent's formation have an RPO bubble in it?
b) I absolutely must defend the bubble pass first and foremost and then be prepared to gap shoot the run
c) if I have time, get in my adjustments to take away the most common passing concepts
I welcome straight Gun Bunch and Gun Tight players... but what I face mostly now are guys running the Spread or Lions Playbook with some combination of Gun Trips TE/Trips TE Offset... Gun Bunch TE/Bunch Open Offset... Gun Spread HB Wk/Spread Y Slot Wk... Gun Trio/Trio Offset/Trio Offset Wk... Gun Wing Slot Offset/Wing Slot Wk... Gun Ace Slot Offset... Singleback Bunch TE/Bunch HB Slot... or IForm Slot/Slot Flex.
If you are running one of these "schemes"... then you're more than likely not a very good Madden player. Â And if you come out in something else only to audible to one of these every play, or if you're one of those guys that flip your formation every damn play... well then you're a complete bum.
Terryfying said:Replying to your bottom paragraph specifically, that's how it's always been. Also I'm pretty sure my win rate against people that spam RPOs all game is really high. I'm not gonna say I haven't lost to it at all, but it's pretty rare.Â
I'm not sitting here trying to say the game is perfect or anything. The whole reason I mentioned the blitzes again is because that was a blatant exploit but bro was complaining about it being patched. Cheese should obviously be limited as much as possible on both sides of the ball. The loop blitzes were completely game breaking though, that's why they were taken out. They weren't taken out to give noobs a better experience (that just sounds silly af tbh).
No one was complaining about loop blitzes being taken out. Â I was merely using that as an example of where EA wants the gameplay to be. Â They want a game where offense is comparatively easy compared to previous years and have been trending in this direction for a very long time.
Terryfying said:Bro I've been playing madden since McNair was the cover athlete.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure their sole intention with fixing the glitched ass blitzes wasn't to help noobs.
Regulars are the ones who generate the most money for this game. I bet if you could see the profit models that they make far more money from the people consistently spending all year than people that just buy the game or that make like one or two MTXs.
Little Timmy (or 10,000 or even 100,000 Little Timmies) isn't/aren't the reason EA is worth 35 billion dollars.Â
As long as they have multiple monopolies I really don't think they give a damn about whether the game is easy to play (especially vs other users) or not. You guys are so triggered that all you can do is blame EA. It's like you went on tilt and just never came back from it.
EA absolutely wants to make the game easier to play on offense. Â How else do you explain the shift away from being able to dominate with your user to the mess we have today?
I also strongly disagree that it's the "regulars" who generate the most money for EA. Â Guys who have been playing the game for many years are A) good enough to stack coins by winning super bowls and/or B) good at the market and how to make coins throughout the year and keep a top end team. Â If anything, it's gotten easier every year to do so. Â I will typically spend about $500 in August when the game drops to get started and not spend another dime the rest of the year. Â M24 was no different. Â I'm sitting with a 90-91 OVR team... 1600 elites in my binder waiting for Team Diamonds... and still have 6 million coins.
It is precisely the 100,000+ little Timmies that generate the most revenue.
