Is slot o matic basically the same thing as having short in and short out when the player is in the slot position? Reading what the description says it kind of suggests it to me. And if so should I get rid of both short in/out and use slot of matic and another ability? That would be great lol. Thanks to all for responding.

Slot-o-matic definitely makes sense to run over short in elite. They're pretty similar but I think slot o matic has a slight edge over short in elite on slot receivers.
I'm less sure about it being a replacement for short out elite. The primary reason to run soe is to beat press. It's my understanding slot-o-matic doesn't help beat press so you may still want to use soe if that important to you.
Ty. I was running short out on my slot for the catching bonus. But I reread the description and it doesn't say catching only between the numbers it just says under 10 yards from Los. I mean I guess in theory I shouldn't need short out and just run slot o matic and something else to free up an ability basically. Would you agree with that assessment?
You say short out to beat press but isn't the slot always between the numbers so it wouldn't have effect anyways right?

Yes, your assessment seems correct if you're only using it for the catching boost you don't need short out.
Yes, the slot is usually between the numbers. I know motioning receivers is one of the ways to beat man coverage. Sometimes that might involve motioning the slot outside in which case short out elite or route tech would be more helpful than slot-o-matic. But if that's not how you beat man it's fine to not use soe.
I'm unsure if soe helps beat press between the numbers. The write up in the abilities section on this site seems to suggest it only works on outside the numbers. However, the YouTube comments from Huddle.gg on the video from one of the old mut.gg tip of the week seem to suggest the soe helps beat press anywhere on the field. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable about abilities can clear this up. I'm admittedly a bit fuzzy on the finer details of some of the abilities
