Stephen Boyd: Who And Why Him?

Stephen Boyd (MLB) is one of the 91 OVR Champions featured in All Madden Release 2. The questions is, who even is he and why did he get a card?

Boyd was a fifth round draft pick (from Boston College) in 1995 and he was selected by the Detroit Lions, whom he spent the entirety of career with.

He retired in May 2002, having only playing in 4 games in 2001 due to chronic back pain.

He made the Pro Bowl in 1999 and 2000 (he was also named to the Second-Team All Pro team in the latter year).

There is still one question left to answer: Why did EA choose to give him an All Madden card? 

The reason is simple. He was named to the 1999 All Madden team.

So there you have it, this is why Stephen Boyd received a 91 OVR All Madden Champion card.

Good sh$t bro!

Boyd was a really good player. Every year he played a full season he was near the Tackle leaders in the league.

He really didn't do much to warrant being considered in the same class as some of these guys , like Dawkins and Champ, Moon, etc.....however, that he was named to the All Madden team is a great catch and makes sense for this promo. (Plus maybe EA is making up for the non-userability of Anzalone)

Ive heard Madden isnt offering these players that much to be featured in MUT , Dez Bryant said they offered him only 15k, so signing a bunch of guys like Stephed Boyd should be a priority, because you'd think he'd probably sign for 15k.

It's funny how a multi-billion dollar company is only offering 15k for the rights to players whose names will make EA a LOT more than 15k each year they're in MUT
