I feel like after this TOTY drop and now almost all new cards having 97+ speed and then with the sprinter card 99 accel, is it even still worth running a theme team? I had been using legends to make sure I have a great team but I hated how limited my selection of cards was. I think its getting to the point of the year where you do not need one anymore to be completely competitive. Thoughts?
I don't think it's worth running a Legends TT because they rarely get upgrades. But I've been doing just fine with a Steelers TT, which will likely get more frequent upgrades
Like other portions of MUT, they have ruined TT by giving so many players all team chems. Combine this with the out of control OOP nonsense, MUT has gone full Little Timmy mode.
I get it has always been a fantasy mode, but it had a history of appealing to true football fans. Add in the crazy abilities, it is now like a comic book game series.

Legends rarely get upgrades? What other team gets a guaranteed 4 97/98+ every single week?

Should have specified... imo Legends is not a sustainable theme team. You're going to have to pay top dollar for every position, and promos (like TOTY) do not benefit Legends TT at all.

Toty is one promo. Legends will get 4 98s Saturday. How many Steelers will you get? Legends will always be the best TT. Only difference is how much the gap shrinks between them and other TTs the rest of the year.

Alright, I get your point.
My point is that I don't think it's worth spending 500k+ per position for a theme team... mostly because Legends is all high end cards. It's only worth the boosts if some of the players are lower overall.

This is a reasonable argument, and it depends on how many coins you have. As long as you don't jump on them the first hour, they're much more affordable in a couple weeks. Week 1 ULs are a good example.
