Not particularly. This year was the worst ever, 99's going to run-of-the-mill players in dozens. I want a MUT world where HOF players, the best to ever play, are separated in the game so that nobodies like "Quadfather" aren't better than the dozens of HOF RB's we all know SHOULD be better in-game.

I think you can have both. If HOF players were the best every year, the content would be the same every year.

So just because they are dead they shouldn't be in the game. They are historic players, paying a kind of tribute back when they played.

I agree, but imo there should be a line when it comes to this stuff. I feel like they've been doing that for long enough to they should just have a year where HOF are the best players in the game PERIOD, and then next year they can make some players who shouldn't be 99 just for fun. There is a balance between "fun" and just plain stupidity.

First of all it's not best to start a conversation with "So" because it puts words in someone's mouth. It's something that even I slip up time to time on. It creates a better dialouge to ask the question and have the person explain in their own words. 

As far as your query. Having anyone but current players is using imagination and make believe. I find it odd when people think that certain kinds of make believe is OK while other kinds are not. 

I have Tebow at QB and Night Train at CB. Both of them at their current levels is complete make believe.

Ok, so explain the difference with having Current and Dead players in the game. And NTL should be a 99, he is a literal HOFer, he made it on the NFL 100 for goodness sake.

One is a current NFL player that can play football at a level that has them in the NFL. 

One is a deceased person that is unable to do anything. 

If you put them both on the field and have them both playing competent football you have a suspension of disbelief. 

If someone is willing to overlook that and just enjoy it I don't see why they would have an issue with other things that don't make sense.

Well, in that sense, retired players shouldn't be in the game then. A lot of them are old, in their 50+'s, and can't play like the players now/how they were in the primes, having them on the field is unrealistic as well, guess you shouldn't have them then.

Exactly. 

If LT is coming around on a blitz in 2023 the same way he did in 1986 then you have to have a suspension of disbelief. 

If Tebow is a better QB then he ever showed in the NFL then you have to have a suspension of disbelief. 

It doesn't make sense to say one kind of make believe is bad while another kind is fine. 

They're both fine.

That is a valid point, there would be minimal changes in the top players, and I do not doubt that is a large part of the reason they handed out 98-99 cards like candy for slugs like Tebow. To try and protect against each year feeling "same ole, same ole" (although if we are honest it pretty much is, isn't it?).

I accept some, probably alot, of Madden players could care less if they had a roster of all 99 Leon Sandcastles. I'm not one of those guys. I've followed the NFL my entire life, became an NFL history buff, and was a serious collector for awhile. I enjoy using players I admired watching over my life, or watched video of if they predated me. To a serious NFL fan, dropping a 99 Tebow (as one glaring example) is literally sacrilegious to the game, a game that bears the only NFL license.

I'm the biggest fan of the NFL there is. 

The thing is MUT isn't the NFL. It's a combination of the past/present /future while also having a ton of what ifs along the way. 

Since we're talking about dead players let's keep going. 

Night Train would be tossed around like a kindergartener in today's game. 190 pounds and 6'1 against 6'6 players that are 255 that can jump out of the gym? There's a reason Deion never got physical with WR's and Night Train would be the same way in modern times. 

However 

In MUT Night Train is still an enforcer at DB with a nonsensical 98 POW and 90 STR. I don't hear much about that though. Instead it's Tebow or Ngata at FS.
