I don't care for it, so I turned messaging and stuff off pretty early on in the year. My biggest issue is the toxicity people would bring when all they do is spam RPOs, like why talk smack when all you can do is cheese and aren't even good at any of the aspects of the game that take skill.
However, this isn't EA sponsoring a toxic playing environment. This is the next generation of athletes coming up with 0 sportsmanship. I'm not even old, I'm 30 years old, but the change in the state of all sports has changed drastically in the last 10 years. We used to lift each other up, we used to mean it when we said GG at the end of the game. We very rarely openly taunted any player. It used to just be friends or people we had personal grudges with. Nowadays anyone is free game to taunt or talk shit, it's seen as "part of the game"

You missed the whole point of this thread. Talking smack is fine. I probably did it to your dad back in the day. Threats, attacks at a person because of who they are, etc., are not. Much of what you see and hear in the online Madden community crosses a line. EA encourages it while promoting positive play. Go back and try again. And gramps? Not yet, but I’ll be happy when it happens. We have a bet on which of our kids is first. Peace.
Turning the mic off is probably the best decision I ever made in MUT.
Man just turn ingame voice off, you either hear somebody shittalking you, loud music or a broke ass bum, who can´t afford or is too high to change the battery in his fire alarm (these are the worst nolifers).
When I see that somebody is talking ingame, I unmute and see what he is about. If he is trashtalking, I´ll try my best to whip his ass but I won´t talk back since it makes me loose focus (english is not my mother language)
I had a kid calling me the n-word over and over again as I thrashed him. He was something else. You could tell he was prepubescent, and had a high-pitched, whiny voice, but there was also a "thickness" to his voice, if you get what I mean. Kind of out of breath between insults, so-to-speak.
He messages me after the game something dumb, and I simply replied, "I can hear the fat in your voice."
EA sent me a warning within minutes bro, it was wild. When I finally get to emailing back and forth with EA, I told them about how the kid was using racism and profanity to insult other players, they told me they couldn't prove it and basically shrugged.
A kid got told he was fat and EA acted.
I was called the n-word about a dozen times and they don't care.
That about sums it up, I think.

You have to report it and not respond, which is stupid, I know. EA says they want positive play, but they encourage the opposite.
Glad to hear different opinions on the matter, yes the easy solution is to mute the mic however EA needs to take the route of some other games that record all public game chat and review it accordingly. that would put an end to the nonsense. Mr 5k madden teams get banned! Wouldn’t that be something
Don’t mind it. They should honestly just remove RPO plays from the game though as they aren’t competent enough to make defensive AI to handle it. They need to add in a feature where if you spam the same play, your ai adapts, similar to how they do in all madden solo battles.

This has been needed like 7 years ago, such an oversight that could fix so many problems with the game. “Stop previous play” button

My solution is to just remove plays that they know wreck the game. I shouldnt have to totally bastardize my cover 3, 4 or whatever defense so I can stop a certain play.
for example an rpo. The defense should play it no different than a play action pass. but they don’t and they obviously are incapable of fixing it. So remove it.

The pursuit angles and blocking on an RPO are absolutely bonkers. They act like it’s a pass commit… disgusting

Sorry that happened man.. Epitome of the social media era.. Tough guys hiding behind a keyboard or mic, but can't handle when it's given back to them. Its the world we live in. In EA's defense, they're right. Never put that stuff in writing. You telling the truth about the instance is just as likely as you lying, sadly. Unless they can record the microphone interactions, they can't do anything about it.
I turned off the mic and voice a long time ago. I really don’t even think about it like I’m playing someone. I think about it as a solo battle that is unpredictable. Most games end with the first pick or TD.
I had a mic when I played COD back in college (black ops 1, modern warfare 3) cause it could be beneficial in TDM... There's literally no benefit for a mic in Madden when you're playing somebody. So what's the point of having a mic unless you're in a party chat? Asking for problems
