Are y'all building your team around theme teams (i.e. playoffs, super bowl, ghost, etc) for attribute boosts? Or are you buying the cards you want that match your ability and scheme set up?
promo theme teams for me. 70/70 superbowl cards are too good

i have enough coins stacked and now with the genki force cards taking 93 as upgrades - considering getting Derwin James or Kevin Byard as well. just not sure who to get or what abilities to use.
second the SB TT being the creme de la creme. used to run a Saints TT, but EA wants to kill them off apparently with low overalls and single chems - just not worth it if you wanna be competitive in online H2H

Honestly, the ultimate goal is a little of both, but i typically try to match my abilities to areas of the field, hopefully sticking within my desired theme team(s). I've been fortunate enough to run a fairly decent hybrid theme team; 70/70 Superbowl, 25/50 49ers & 6/6 AKA Crews (for the +1 SPD to Megatron, primarily).
At this point in the year we're finally able to blanket the entire field with various Zone KOs. I prefer having both Deep & Mid Zone KOs on outside corners, and either Flat or Mid Zone KO on Slot corners. Dual Universal Coverage (or equivalent; Dual Threat / Reinforcement, etc.) on both deep Safeties is the final missing component i'm working towards, although I can't really decide if I want to give up having two Unstoppable Force (or equivalent X-factors) on D-line, or revert to dual coverage X-factors on my safeties. Having dual pass rush threats helps to ensure that opponents aren't continually double-teaming both of my X-factor pass rushers, so I've been sticking with that for the moment, but considering other options. Sadly, i do not have Derwin, only Kevin Byard, but i'm still using Kam's Dual Threat X-factor, with Light it Up X-factor token.
I haven't really implemented the new Genki players into my roster, although i've had big Rob (RT) and Kevin Byard. Finally built Jaire (CB) last night, but i'm using him as upgrade component for the time being, may put him in the slot, but at the moment i'm content with Byard using 0AP for Mid Zone and Pick Artist.
70/70 Super Bowl is just too OP, I would totally do that if you want a meta team, personally I’ll stick with my cardinals but it is tough out there for any team to compete

got 82/70 SB... just trying to figure out which of these new cards is the best to find a place on the field for them and what abilities are best (i.e. Byard versus Derwin versus Jaire and then also compared to the SB cards I already have).

Ahh I got ya
I try my best to fit in the meta around a 50/50 Ravens team. Can't maximize AP but it's fun seeing 90ovr Ball-Hawk still make plays.
70/70 superbowl theme team is defintely worth it but kos on defense is op
I do a mix of both. I run a 50/50 Bears, 25/ Playoffs, 25/ SB TT. With the division dynasty players out I now am at 52/50 Bears so I may throw a couple of random guys on the team when TOTY drops.

Honestly, both. I definitely try to match abilities to areas of the field, but also within constraints of my hybrid theme team; 70/70 SB, 25/50 49ers & 6/6 AKA Crews, plus 5/60 Playoffs because I needed linemen.
I run a couple D-line X-factors, then everything else, all 10 AP go into my DBs, so I can blanket the entire field in various Zone KOs. I'm using two Genki cards, but those are particularly amazing if you can afford em. Unfortunately, I cannot.
Washington TT with fillers never been more fun....

What’s your secondary Ap set up?

My entire defensive backfield is covered with various Zone KOs, it'd be an awful lot to list, but i'll try to condense it as quickly and clearly as possible. HERE is my current roster, i believe it's essentially accurate and up to date.
- Both Safeties get Deep Zone KO + Pick Artist (3AP)
- outside Corners get Deep Zone KO & Mid Zone KO (6AP)
- Slot Corner Jaire gets Universal Coverage, Out of My Way (to help defend RPOs) & Pick Artist (0AP)
- Kam is my second Slot corner, who gets Pick Artist + Mid Zone KO (1AP)
If i added a new Genki corner, uhhh Davante Adams, i could get a better stack (Pick Artist, Mid Zone & Deep Out Zone KO) for only 2AP, which might allow me to add an Inside Stuff or some run defense ability, but I almost always prioritize DBs, as it's a passing league after all.
