Depends. If I want to be competitive, I run a 25/50 TT. But I personally like to have fun this game, so I fun a 50/50 TT with fillers. 50/50 TT's are harder to run but are more fun and enjoyable to run imo.
This is off topic, but this seemed like the best place to post. Anyways.... I'd really like to see a debate on the top cards in the game. At every position top 3 ideally, but more realistic. The really important slots. QB, WR, CBs, safeties, etc.

100% agree. I use a 53/50 Washington tt atm., and i use fillers too. Got a free Burrow im using, and ofc I gotta have Megatron. I'm am trying to use every useable Washington player thou. My team is pretty good imo 97 ovr, 97 off., 97 def. Only thing that is kinda a problem sometimes is my corners are short....lol. kinda got anway from my point. I have the most fun playing with the as close to an actual tt as possible.
I'm late to this debate but when I started playing MUT full time 4 years ago I began by trying to build a "god squad" and chasing the newest, shiniest, best card out there in an attempt to build the "best" team
I'm sure partially due to my inexperience with MUT and Madden in general I was not getting the results I expected for having the "best' players. I was getting frustrated and on the verge of quitting altogether
Then I stumbled upon a "theme team" thread over on that other MUT website and figured I'd give it a try and temper my expectations as to my results.
Needless to say I was hooked. I've been a Patriots fan my entire life and playing with current and past players from my favorite team changed my perspective and enjoyment with the game entirely.
I have, since that day, run nothing but an exclusive Patriots theme team with only Patriots chems at all positions and only cards of players that currently playing or have played for NE
I prefer to have as many of my starters be active, current rostered players as well. Naturally I'll use some historic players where needed but if the difference between a current and former player us just a few OVR points the current player wins - Except for Ty Law and and all his version will always be on my roster
That's my opinion on theme teams and I'm sticking to it :-)
I run a 50/50 cowboys 25/50 49ers. it seems impossible, but you can have one filler. I think that your favorite team is the way to go because it is more fun.
I run a chiefs tt but it isnt my main team.
Imo Chiefs is the best tt
The 25/25/25 TT seems like the best option this late in the year. A lot of cards top out at high SPD and probably most players have at least one +1 SPD strategy. I started with Cowboys/Saints, but added the Rams when I pulled the Odell LTD. Then it helped when Whitworth got an upgrade and the Slater diamond, and now they're in the SB.
I've been incredibly lucky with packs this year, so I've been able to fill out this lineup https://www.mut.gg/lineup-builder/436802ef-75b8-443e-95ff-48e22c09492c/
