How else do you explain a 3 man front with DBs behind it stopping the the run consistently? Or zones not doing shit? Football is a tough game to play, it's tough to get yards. This year, anybody can get into a game and score 50. I drop 30-40 on guys with top DBs, it's bullshit. Same shit happens against me. Defense sucks all around unless you're breaking the game.
I can agree with this though I believe I'm more novice than you. Defense seems to me "pick your poison" because you basically can't do this whole "well I should cover underneath, but they might burn me over the top so I'll do this one thing to deal with that" crap. It seems like it really has to be all or nothing. And what's the one thing that can logically stop what counters it? Blitzing, of course. Screens get blown up because they didn't have time to develop (they suck anyway but still). Fast passing across the middle gets blown up or the QB ends up inaccurate due to pressure etc etc. These are just my takes, but that's why I think it's blitz or be blitzed for the most part, though I don't like to blitz every play (I actually don't even want to personally). And why Henry was successful - he found exactly the scheme that could cover what he could not (the outside) while being an insane user across the middle and having a difficult to stop, OP screaming blitz.
