I've heard a lot of people say switch stick is great and is the "skill gap" this year on defense. I'm honestly divided on the subject.
On one hand it's cool to be able to switch to anyone on defense, but why can't you do that by switching with circle/b?
It's also somewhat frustrating to look off someone's user, only to have them switch stick and pick off an open pass. I find that now you sometimes have to set traps for people, and anticipate them switch sticking to certain reads.
Also, for anyone who watched the MCS, congrats to Fancy...but I thought it was rather strange to have the commentators praising his defense, meanwhile he even admitted himself to not be a great defensive player. He said he doesn't really make adjustments, mostly just sits in coverage and switch sticks around.
As someone who makes a ton of adjustments on defense, that's really weird to me coming from supposedly the best player in the world right now.
To be honest it would be nice to be able to put my defenders in position to make plays, and have them play their responsibilities somewhat intelligently.
I'm torn on whether you should be able to sit in a hard flats defense, user the middle, and still be able to defend corner routes with the switch stick...although it has been kind of fun to bait people into jumping the corner by switch sticking onto their deep zone, only to bomb them on a streak.
