Thoughts on Team Diamond Sets?

So last year we got Elway as a 96 OVR TD Champion which required tokens from the 32 x 92 OVR TD sets.  These sets required something like 38 cards... typically as follows:

1 x 88 OVR wildcard

1 x 87 OVR Team Affinity

1x87 OVR Campus Hero

1 x 87 OVR Ultimate Kickoff

5 x 85-87 high elites (cores, TOTW, etc.)

2 x 84 OVR Team Builders

10 x 80-84 low elites (cores, TOTW, Legends, AKA, etc.)

1 x 80 OVR Campus Hero

up to 16 x 76-79 golds

Given that our OVRs are running a bit behind this year... what are we thinking?  Probably a 94 OVR TD Champion... and 32 x 90 OVR TD sets?

I hope they reduce the set requirements because I think it's going to be much harder getting all these cards with the auction house now fragmented five ways across Xbox, PlayStation, old gen vs current gen... and PC.

I don't see it being a 92 ovr this year, most likely 90 ovr. Set-wise, I could see EA following the same format as last year. 93-94 for the master.

I think it will be interesting to see how they handle them this year.  I'm too lazy to look but I feel like we have fewer cards this year compared to last. I think you might be right about reduced set requirements. Either that or EA has a massive content drop planned.

I play on old gen Xbox and with the release of this past weekends 75% off bundle I took it as a sign to stock up for future diamond sets. I was able to  fill my binder and still seeing good deals today. I imagine the ps5 and Xbox series x version is even easier to stock up right now. I have always enjoyed the big set requirements with an awesome master card and though I understand your point of view I don’t think that the split will affect current gen market to an extreme  (and don’t think they care about us old gen or pc players).

My concern is the gold players... I've been buying up 76-79s when I can... but there are some teams with very limited supply and prices are already high.  I'm not buying golds for 4k each when they might not even be in the sets!  Good luck sniping though.

I basically have been saving every 75-79 gold player that I get (unless it already sells for a ton.) I also have built out the team diamond cards for all the major TT's. Recently since the market tanked, I've been stocking up on 80-83's low elites when I get them at training value to hold as well. Having a Cowboys TT, I've also acquired every card from 74 and up so I'll be sure to have the Cowboys diamond done without scrambling. I'm thinking we get 90 team diamonds, with the master being 93-94 this year, since we are about 2 overalls lower this year compared to last year.

Sounds like a plan.  I bought up all the cards that could possibly go into the set for the Steelers, Chiefs, Niners, Raiders, Cowboys, and Eagles so I can do those sets off the bat.  I'll probably sell all of those and use the proceeds to fund additional TD sets where I've bought a lot but not all the cards.

Now watch EA screw preppers over and make something like the Niners require 20 86 OVR Fred Warners.

Haha yeah I hope they don't require many 86-87's in these, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I've been doing the same with golds and low elites. I'm also trying to collect as many 84+ elites as well for cheap (sometimes you get lucky and someone posts it for only a couple hundred coins by mistake). Hoping that EA doesn't screw me over with these sets.
