Tips for a newbie

Hey there. New to MUT. Haven’t played Madden in probably a decade. I am used to ultimate-team modes having played Diamond Dynasty and a little bit of NBA2K.

anyway, I’ve done some googling and any guides are tailored to the extreme noobs And don’t get into all the facets of this game mode. But with Madden being so involved and complicated, I’d love some tips/thoughts on some of the more complicated items: abilities, AP, training, strategies, best playbooks, where to spend, where to save, sets, etc. 

Any help is appreciated. If you want to tell me, or direct me to where I can find more info, that would be great. Thanks.

Well, my friend, you have come to the right website. I would suggest simply perusing the site or asking questions in posts just like this for specific areas. It's easy to find information and opinions on a variety of subjects. I don't even own Madden 24, yet I still stay informed about it checking in from time to time on these forums.

In terms of abilities run gift wrapped and gun slinger on your qb if you can, and juke box on you hb, with energizer every where else. On defense, run pick artist and maybe an inside stuff on your dt. KO’s are too expensive to be viable. Jets, eagles, colts, and bengals are the best offensive playbooks. Chiefs, multiple D, and 46  are the best defensive playbooks. Don’t buy any store packs, just get players from the auction house. Last tip, don’t play H2H until you have a good team or a good scheme.

What do you mean KO? There’s a few abbreviations/acronyms I don’t understand. Like agg? 
 

I know to not spend. Been playing DD for a long time. i did buy that team draft thing where you pick a whole new starting lineup. (Although I didn’t realize I was overreaching on some positions, figured they would stop offering positions once they’re filled).

 And ive done quite a bit of grinding (mostly challenges and solo battles). so, I feel like I have a decent squad. Most positions are at least 85s and most key spots are 88 or above. And I have like 2.5 million coins. But I’ve been waiting to spend.  Would you say it’s a slow buildup? Am  wasting coin if I spend it now?

Favorite team is Broncos and my fave era is 80s-90s.

Are you on current gen or old gen? 

Not sure how much grinding you've done, so here are some general tips.

Regarding schemes/playbooks, on offensive it depends on what you feel most comfortable with. I wouldn't say there is a "best" scheme/playbook to go with. It's all user preference really. Same thing with defense. Warning: Defense in general isn't really in it's best state currently, so expect a lot of high scoring games.

I would focus on completing challenges to help boost your squad. Legends, TOTW, AKA, and Hispanic Heritage challenges would be the challenges I would start with if I were you.

Team Captains are free players (Frank Gore, Kevin Mawae, Ronde Barber, Eric Berry, Channing Crowder) that receive upgrades throughout the year (eventually reaching 99 OVR) via Team Captain tokens that can be earned via Team Captains challenges. You can earn all five, but won't have enough tokens to upgrade them all to their current max OVR (at the time of posting it is 89 OVR).

Spend and save on where you need the most. Head to MUT Lineup Help/Feedback subforums whenever you have lineup-related questions. Make sure that you build your lineup in the MUT.GG Lineup Builder first!

Abilities/AP spending depends on your scheme and on who is on your lineup. Check out the MUT.GG Ability Tier List and Abilities.FYI for everything ability related. Some of my favorite abilities (which are some of the best in MUT) are Hot Route Master, Gunslinger, Gift-Wrapped (QB abilities), and Lurk Artist (an ability that makes linebackers animate in a way that they haven't for multiple years, but you missed that era due to your Madden hiatus).

Appreciate the help. I have been grinding fairly hard since starting a few weeks ago. I’ve done all the challenges up to today’s legends. Have all the Hispanic Heritage cards completely upgraded (except Victor Cruz shows as an 84 in my lineup screen for some reason). Have all the captains and have Berry built all the way up with the other tokens going to Crowder and Ronde. I’m getting close to Micah in the season pass and close to Fields in the comp pass.

If you have Crowder fully upgraded you can put Lurk Artist on him, you'll almost certainly notice a difference in his performance
