I think that since the release of abilities back on madden 20 the game has been dependent on “Discounted players“ and Aka X-Factors. If you advocate for them you have never played the good years of madden like 16’ 05’ 08 all amazing years of madden. If you look at any cool looking card with decent stats you will see at least 100 people saying “TRASH NO DISCOUNTED HRM OR QUAD STACK AND BAD RELEASE“ but nobody really cares about that. Whatever it think they should be removed altogether.
Should Abilities be removed?
From other discussions on here, no abilities seems to be a pretty popular opinion here at least among the users who reply.
Personally, I don't like abilities for two reasons. The first is most of the fair abilities just seem like something my players should be able to do if they have good enough stats. The other reason is some abilities are too good in my opinion. These abilities lead to gameplay that feels too unrealistic even for madden in my opinion.
Abilitys can make a terrible amazing it makes the game required no skill
Maybe instead of abilities you can just get attribute points to distribute or training and you spend the training on attributes idk
Yeah it’s crazy the amount of people that can hang in a game when they’re clearly not as good skill wise just because they have an AKA back and KOs on their corners. Huge bailout… biggest bailouts I’ve ever seen in Madden and I’ve played since 13. Abilities have got to go.

Agreed. Unfortunately the way the game is programmed without abilities it's still broken. If you played at the start of the year, WRs could catch just about anything with an aggressive catch.
I'm an advocate for no abilities, but players need to be programmed properly in order for it to work
100....take away abilities and xfactors and alot of the community would be very bad lol.....ppl can just blindly throw into dbl coverage or even triple coverage, run the ball break 8 tackles with xfactors, rush 2 xfactors drop 9 into coverage and get a sack, or even play bum man d get burnt by a wr then get bailed out from ko abilities
This opinion is very popular lol
Abilities and X-Factors gotta go. Simple.
I love abilities, it's one of the best things that Madden has ever done.
It allows new players to play and not get blown out and it allows skilled players the ability to keep a gap between themselves and "ordinary" players.
It also keeps cards fresh by allowing players to tune them however they want. You can have a RB card but one is tuned for being a power back while another is about pass catching.
My only problem would be how expensive AP is at the start of the season. I would prefer the system that is in place now. That way we could have more variety from the start of the season.
Nah, I think you just titled it that way to get attention.
42 posts at the time of typing suggests that you haven't been around here for long, but opinions expressed calling for the removal of abilities is a common thing on these threads. And I've seen the viewpoint expressed on other places dedicated to Madden too.
I personally like abilities because I play only against the CPU, but I DEFINITELY can understand why people don't like them and want them removed. Some of the things I've heard the last two years about abilities from people who regularly play h2h sounds frustrating. To say the least.

Yes because I would love attention on a madden website when I have no other things like work to worry about. Makes a ton of sense pal. Also been playing madden since 02 so yeah way to stray away from the topic I talked about.

I think abilities are good for the game the thing that has people upset with abilities is the requirement to use abilities and that some players are only better than other cuz of abilities.

I completely agree with you. It doesn’t matter the ratings of cards all that matter is the abilities. That’s what dictate H2H games not the card ratings.
I just started for the first time since 16 and I have to say I don't love abilities, but I think they are overly emphasized. Some barely work and are very finicky. If you look at abilities.fyi you'll see the game code for them, and will probably be surprised at how a lot of them actually work. People take what they say literally, (not that they shouldn't, but lots of games, not just EA games are like this) and just assume things only happen because of this or that. I think a lot of it is dda, elo, or whatever. But it's still game of stick skill and chess like strategy. So what a WR is an inch taller, a DB is an inch shorter, it really comes down to scheme and execution. I voted yes, but I wouldn't mind abilities staying and becoming more refined towards scheme than just ap cost. I started early march so I didn't play when you probably had to be much more discerning with how you set up your crew, but I've been wishing I did as I imagine that would have been more strategic than just putting acro and PA on every DB etc.
