It’s the same for me. Just the way the game is, there aren’t any frustrating cards or abilities that ruin my gameplay. And I am terrible at the show too which doesn’t add to the fun
Madden will always have people hating the game no matter what at this point, I agree that abilities ruined the game but then how is it fixed? Without them and stats being the only thing that matters the game would play about the same as it does now, in every Madden there will always be a meta it doesn’t matter it’s the stage of video games now, last year it was pa boot over with escape artist and a pass lead ability, two years ago it was putting sprinter on everyone and using the best abilties on players, three years ago being the introduction of X factors everyone was running qbs with the best abilities like escape artist and such, Eric Dickerson the original quadfather, and then whoever else and on defense running three lumberjack enforcers out of 335 wide. Every madden before abilities played the same other than upgraded graphics and some tuning to some stuff. Abilities ruined the game yes but take them out and the gameplay doesn’t become better either, right now the games a chess match imo if they’re running dime you run the ball with your broken X factor running back, if they’re playing press man you utilize your short out elites, backed off man route tech corners or crossers, zone pick apart the open zones. if they’re running unstoppable forces try to get the ball off fast. I think the games balanced as it can be and no abilities doesn’t make the gameplay anymore fun. I understand if they give your favorite player a bad ap stack and complaining about that but you choose to play competitively or not, if you don’t care then use your favorite players, if you wanna win you go get the best

Um no abilities is one of the best things ea's ever done. It adds variety to the game and it also makes it more fun. I just dont like the discounted ap abilities they should have just done it like madden 22. A player could have good stats but then they get terrible abilities and be classified as trash. I still think they should keep them just do it how they did last year.
I think they should go back to how it was in madden 20 with the 3 players as abilities were more balanced then.
Like now you can have someone wide open and it can be dropped just because of KO. It also makes discounted abilities erelevent as there would be no AP and the game would be more reliant on skill than just abilities

42 posts at the time of typing suggests that you haven't been around here for long, but opinions expressed calling for the removal of abilities is a common thing on these threads. And I've seen the viewpoint expressed on other places dedicated to Madden too.

I totally agree, and what makes it even worse are the kids that think they’re good because youre picking apart their defense, but they think they’re good and stopping it because everyone on the damn field has KOs everywhere. Like I had every play on offense beating this dudes defense on everything, but I just got too upset and quit because everything kept getting knocked out even when his dudes are getting beat from the LOS
Abilities would be much better if there was more freedom to choose your own abilities. Now, EA essentially pigeonholes us into using certain abilities over others because of the discounts they give and this results in everyone using the exact same abilities and gameplay becomes monotonous and repetitive. Ability descriptions in game are wildly misleading to the point that you have to do research to figure out how exactly an ability works.
I have two 99 QBs on my team with Brady and Cam who really aren’t that great because other guys like Tebow get much better ability stacks. Many of the ability discounts they give make no sense. For example, Cam‘s 99 gets no rushing ability discounts for a QB who has the career record for rushing TDs. You would think Cam was more of a pocket passer if you never actually watched the NFL based on his card. The best running backs in the game are Gus Edwards and Cordarrelle Patterson. On what planet are these guys the best RBs in the NFL? The game has become so arcade and cartoon-like at this point.
Might as well bring back Madden Arcade (anyone remember that?) and just rename it Madden Ultimate Team, I can’t imagine anyone would notice a difference in the game play.
TLDR; I don‘t think abilities are the worst thing in the game, but there is so much opportunity to make them better and they have only gotten worse over the years so I wouldn’t mind taking them out.
