I agree with you, OP. But I'm considered an old head, so my perspective is a little different.
The hypocrisy bothers me the most. Don't promote sportsmanship and have an elaborate celebration system; don't code "End Racism" on helmets if you're going to do nothing to enforce rules against that language during online gameplay. I watched JonBeast literally stand up and scream in another player's face during an MCS event. Sportsmanship? They didn't even shake hands after the Championship last night. We teach that since Little League. This is a video game. lol
All EA has to do is...not say anything, but, since they say a lot and do absolutely the bare minimum, you're very much entitled to your opinion.
i havent played a game with voice or chat in over 4 years.. my messaging is turned off as well. so much more peaceful

Yeah I'm with you and some others here and I also disabled voice chat and DMs. I think this might be the most antisocial multiplayer game I've ever played, because on other games I played people are pleasant sometimes. Madden seems more toxic, and the only one I've disabled these features on. Seeing how this thread is going and the inactive/passive measures by EA pretty much vindicates this experience in my view.

If you ask me, EA loves it because they allow it during their tournaments. They can say fair play and all this other garbage but the fact is that they seem fine with it. EA is as toxic as it gets

Absolutely agree, sadly. This pretty much circles back to what I said before - the last time I had DMs enabled, a guy spouted racist insults and when I reported him EA refused to do anything about it. Basically complicit or even straight enabling in my book. It is what it is.

I've been called every name in the book. Worst was when i had a child in the room with me and they got on their mic telling me i was an N word and saying i should have been aborted. Think that was Madden 17 or something, probably even worse now.

Damn, sorry to hear that. That's terrible but I get it. I started in Madden 18 and mostly it wasn't bad or anything but I played on a different platform back then and now I do think it seems WAY worse. I think Madden is honestly catered towards high school kids or even younger at this point. Just look at the meta and how the last MCS went. Then think how a 12 year old kid wants to play Madden - heave it deep, send heat, never think beyond "let's do that play I like for running/passing". Even the commentators at one point said "yeah, when you think too much you get into trouble." It all matches up. It's basically modern Tecmo Super Bowl, and even has the same players with Bo Jackson (eventually) and Christian Okoye.
