I’m not justifying it, I play online rarely because of them. But with every meta play there’s almost always a pretty simple counter if you take the time to find it, and if you’re going to play H2H consistently and don’t find those counters that’s on you

Bologne. Countering cheese is a combination of largely unaffordable personnel and counter-intuitive responses that largely require you to scour the Internet to learn Madden, not football.

I don't blame the community because Madden's programmers are D-level performers. Nevertheless, arguing that the solution to this issue is for the footballers to just 'git gud' is a patent justification for the win-at-all-costs perversion of a football simulation. I hope that we'll one day have a football simulation that punishes today's cheesers for repeatedly calling cheat plays with little attempt to be unpredictable, since AWR, PRC, and PUR are largely worthless attributes.

Well you are playing madden. So it would make sense that you have to learn madden

If I'm learning how to play a football simulation, I shouldn't have to learn how to position my short stop, or how to execute Jedi Mind Tricks on offensive tackles. Players should execute their respective assigned roles, and not leave obvious pass rushers or eligible receivers uncovered. The game says that my right tackle is going to attempt to block the left outside linebacker. He shouldn't ignore the pass rushing linebacker at the snap. He should engage him.

No, I don't want to learn "Madden". I came here to play football. The game's coding should reflect what's "In the Game", as that's how EA has classically represented Madden. This is not what happens.

madden, especially MUT isn’t and never has been a football sim. It’s an arcade football game. That’s like saying you dont want to learn call of duty, you want to learn war by playing call of duty.

Perhaps you weren't born yet, but I played Madden Football for the Commodore 64. That was as simulation as you could get at the time. EA Sports may have pandered to a small-minded gaming community by burying the simulation aspects underneath video gamey mechanics, but the simulation is there underneath it all. It's just that the tuning has been broken beyond repair.

The military does use video games to train some of their enlisted members, but Call of Duty is apparently more video game than simulation. I don't think your analogy was relevant.
