The speed stat on cards seems to be just for show. I have some fast mfers who get chased down by slowies, get no separation, etc. I know there's some of this every year, but it seems especially bad in M24. Anyone else seeing this or is it in my head?
definitely not just in ur head……when i play solo battles and have a 70-80 ovr cb keeping pace with my 94 speed wr’s there is something wrong
this might a conspiracy theory but maybe if a pass ain't perfect DB's have a sudden speed boost when going towards the ball I could be wrong with that but I've seen videos where a receiver get's clearly beat but ends up catching up with the wide receiver open by miles.
don't take my word on this just thinking.
Guys, it's an arcade game these days. It'll do whatever's needed to stick to the script. If that means your superaccurate 94 QB needs to throw a floater right at a DB to keep the game 'interesting' or have your opponents players be quicker or slower, so be it. Anyone still thinking this is "simulation" football is an idiot.

So stats don't matter? The game is coded to do whatever it takes to drive us all crazy? That hasn't been my experience.
Simulation football? No, definitely not. Whatever you're talking about? Also no.

This id dda. Its not in h2h where people try to use it as an excuse for losing. DDA happens when the cpu goes into cheat mode. It happens on all pro but all madden is where the magic happens. 74 golds will lock down your new ltd calvin every other play.

I mean, Cokby is right. It happens in H2h also. Maybe not as mmuch as in Solo battles but remember that in H2h is also AI controlling the coverage (except for your user ) and even then my user may have higher speed than the receiver I'm covering and still get by him.
So I agree. It's not always but very often speed doesn't matter. I thought maybe agi and accel were the reason for this but even then the player with lower statsin these areas is matched by the player with lower stats
I find some of the speed ratings they're giving cards this year are bizarre. D linemen and linebackers are regularly being given speed ratings comparable to corners and receivers. Some of the QB speeds seem quite random. CJ Stroud given 93 speed versus 90 for Josh Allen last week seems odd. Meanwhile Mahomes' thanksgiving card has 80 speed, only 3 more than Phillip Rivers and 5 less than what 300+ lb Quinnen Williams just got given
IMO Speed only matters if you're Usering the card the CPU has its own settings.
I know this is not an exact science and lord help us dealing with EA, but keep in mind there are other factors than speed- height and weight impact speed, iirc, as would acceleration, COD and agility. So my interpretation isn't that all 90 speed cards are created equal. A 6' 300lb lineman with 90 speed is still going to be slower than a 6'2" 200lb WR with 90 speed. Other nuances like agility, COD and acceleration factor into the equation as soon as the players are not running in a straight line.
tl;dr: more things other than the speed rating factors into how fast a card is
Edit: When talking about the CPU you also have to factor in sliders, which will move throughout the game. As soon as the dda kicks in, speed will be one of the first noticible stats that are impacted.
Ya players, especially DBs seem to get crazy speed boosts when you throw the ball in the air deep. Idk why it’s just something that happens in this game

See this is logical but it’s not how the game plays. I have d lineman chasing down “faster” HBs and WRs all the time.
I think EA had a lawsuit to search for DDA maybe 1-2 years ago (I think for FIFA not madden) but from what I recall they handed over the code to the game and ended up not getting charged, with the reasoning being DDA doesnt exist but that their game code is not the best. All that being said, it obvious as day and night that some stuff happens game to game to cause your players to move better or worse certain games. Usually feels worse when playing a player like 1 program behind or so. It also feels like playing ppl in different divisions or in your playoffs.
How crazy is it though? A game that's been out for 20+ years and the player base still has no idea whether the numbers on cards matter and, if they do, which ones do what.
Personally, I think it's all BS. The game runs to a script designed to keep players engaged. No one wants to get beat easily but winning easily is just as bad. Playing the CPU and need to catch up? No problem, here comes a fumble or a drop to a wide-open WR on 3rd down. Need to get pegged back? No problem either. Holding, interception, fumble - whatever. Think how many times you get a catch or run on 3rd and nothing where your player gets tackled just short. Often in very unlikely ways. Happens all the time. But you also get crazy catches or broken tackles in the same situation and get the yards. And all that shit happens in H2H too. Just play a few games. See how many situations you're up by 10+ or down by 10+ at the half. That first possession goes badly or well depending on which one 90% of the time. I play H2H pretty much every day and see it constantly.
If you think about it, American Football is a really easy game to fix and it'd be a far far easier game to code if all that shit on a player card ultimately meant nothing at all.
Not sure what people expect to happen when you increase a difficultly level. I get the other team's players are inferior to yours but if you go from Rookie to All Madden how else can they adjust the difficulty of the game if they didn't have their 75 corners lock down your 95 receiver? How could their 80 DE get by your 95 LT? When you increase difficulty physical attributes sort of go out the window on the CPU side to match the level of difficulty you chose. If their players played to physical attributes, it would be as easy as playing on Rookie regardless of difficulty. To me what they should do to solve this is as your increase the difficulty, it shows you the OVR increase in the team. Instead of playing a 78 OVR team which would be for Rookie only, that same team would be 94 on All Madden due to some Chemistry they apply to all the players based.
