This was my first year playing MUT, picked up the game in November. I feel I missed out a bit and when there was the 12x Gameday Pro I believe pack bundle on sale for like $22 I bought that and it seemed to set me up nicely.
now my question is, if you’re going to spend real money is it better to do it early on? Obviously players are better now but it seems kinda dumb to buy pack bundles when there’s so many good players readily available.

The beginning of the year is the only money I've spent this year. Sitting at 98 ovr right now. I play alot of h2h though.
There is never a time to spend real money on this game. I guess maybe if you have tried to give it away to needy people and they have refused, but that would be about it for me. Paying for the game and the yearly pass for the PSN network is plenty of real cash for me.

The only time is really from the launch of the game to October and the maybe for ZC and blitz but i never spend money after the new year

The truth is you don't have to spend money on the game if you are willing to put in the time. You could literally just start playing at launch, make some smart financial moves throughout the year, and be up there with the people who pay thousands of dollars to brag about how coin rich they are. I personally just play the game and don't bother with financial moves and while I'm certainly not a ten million coin + man at this point I still have all the coins I need for the players I want, and I spent a total of five dollars on mut this year. Thats not because I'm cheap mind you, but rather because I chose not to reward the sloppy effort that the team working on mut has put into the game over the last two years.
If the rumors are true, and this upcoming year is make or break for them, I can see mut being super generous in madden 24 simply because I don't believe they have the skill set necessary to make a game people are happy to pay for giving their track record of having even the simplest of things not work. And nothing makes the mut community happier than free stuff, even if it comes at the cost of the overall game.
Because of that, I personally will spend another year saving my money for something else, perhaps charity like someone suggested above. But in your situation, where you are probably more excited for mut next year than I ever will be again, if you really want a head start any 100 dollar bundle that offers a stack of plat cards is a good place to start in the first few weeks. Then use those plat elites for a while to play the game and build up a coin stack, quickselling them as you get better replacements. Just don't be surprised if they don't exist next year, traditionally once something becomes "the way to do things" they get taken away in the next madden.
Definitely start of the game and sell literally everything. Maybe Blitz around black friday and that's it usually
I think the time is around new years. I started at playoffs and have done well. I believe if you can get 2mill or more per $100 spent then it’s a good deal. You can’t get that at the beginning.
