Not sure it does get worse every year...but...a theory is...many "casual" players may have left the game mode as the cost (time or money) coupled with the frustration of consistent card performance have left us with a smaller "focused" group of H2H players who have MCS visions (they are good) bouncing around in their head.

Hopefully those with MCS aspirations also have visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads.
All joking aside I would just add that we must acknowledge the toxicity itself has chased some off. It is a part of why I choose to uninstall. I’m not going to say it’s as much a driving factor as EA or the game they produce but it certainly impacted my choice.
Though, I feel like we’ve beaten this horse pretty thoroughly as of late. Hammered it home or whatever idiom you prefer.
I’m more interested in ideas in how we can do differently, sharing examples of people in the community doing just that and of course quality debate.
I’m not interested in arguing, accusing or ridiculing anyone. Specifically, in this case, those who are willing to participate in the conversation. Regardless of their position.
less casuals, this years MUT is definitely catered more to online players ie ranked, gauntlet and mut champs with the rewards being really good. When the rewards are good it’ll make every game sweaty
More people are playing 24 than 25 on Psn and 24 is only two behind 25 on Xbox with around 1000 people on steam. Most casuals left this game and aren’t coming back.
10 years ago mut is new to everyone and lots more casual players, now most players have been playing for years
Online gaming in general continues to grow more toxic every day. It's a culture issue. I grew up playing original Nintendo with my friends in person before the days of online gaming. All social interaction was done in person other than talking on the phone. If someone didn't play fair or tried to be a troll, they'd eventually be left with nobody to play with. Not many people wanted to be that person. Now that society has made a major shift to the online world, there's a much bigger group of people to interact with and people can hide behind anonymity for the most part. There's no longer a punishment for being a troll and being obnoxious.
With gaming, obnoxious players are never left with nobody to play with. As soon as they're done pissing somebody off, matchmaking sends them to their next victim. The biggest problem with Madden and why I pretty much never play online is because most people aren't even trying to play football. I'm the guy who actually punts on 4th down unless it's short yardage just outside field goal range. I run multiple plays and if I run a cheesy one, it's by complete accident. I don't send messages to my opponent or respond to negative messages sent to me. I don't talk on the mic and can't stand it when I can hear my opponent's mic the entire game. I've played my fair share of online gaming over the past 20 years, but lately I've just enjoying doing all of my gaming offline. Unfortunately, I think online toxicity will only get worse.

Well said...I agree completely. In previous years I found significantly more positive then negative when interacting with folks online. That has taken a turn. I strive to remain positive as I don't walk in their shoes, but have noticed an uptick in poor "sportsmanship". I'm with you on trying to find a way to recapture the positive.

Great points...hadn't considered the "online" world, but...I think you may be on to something with that.
This game just makes me so sad because it’s so poorly maintained and balanced but the only football game on the market beside cfb which is just as bad if not worse… :,,,(

Whenever I run into a player how plays super cheap I just end that match because I don’t want to reward them with gameplay and even if I could beat them it’s not worth the time to have to run the same play over and over again just to move the ball down the field.. it’s so unfun and dry
It’s not even bad this year
It could be that your tolerance for this type of play has waned and less patience now for it :D
Less people playing each year
I think a lot of it has to do with these Youtuber/ streamers putting out so called “ebooks”. No one really teaches actual Football principles to beat x type of coverage anymore, or a defense to stop certain route combos. Its just this breaks the AI Not because it works in real life but because it got coded wrong.
example of this was with the solo te being able to be motioned over to make a quads look, who even tries things like this knowing it’s an illegal format in real life. A lot of these people that think they are good can’t win unless they use these broken plays. Ea needs to lose the rights or it will never get better.
