This is just ridiculous at this point...as if defense doesn't already have enough issues, now everyone you play against is doing motion/cheat plays that screw up your entire defensive alignment pre snap regardless of zone/man/match etc..seems base align and removing auto flip prevents this as far as I can tell, and maybe there's more that can help or whatever, and for now I'm still playing so maybe I'll figure out something else too...but I guess now I HAVE to do base align to deal with this? Or maybe someone else has input how to deal with this. But regardless, I shouldn't involuntarily have my guys moving across the field when I didn't tell them to, and there needs to be a way to completely shut that off. Am I missing something here?

Yea every1 I play is doing it must be new ebook crap!
Everyone at the “higher levels” has been flipping plays and motioning to break the defensive AI. Since the game is rewarding players who focus on Madden’s AI rather than football principles, more players are going to study Madden players and imitate their ”tactics”.

Right, everyone knows that. My question isn't where they're learning to do this. My question is why this works the way it does and how to deal with it.

Hate to tell you this but motions in the NFL are partially designed to break alignments sometimes..

I'm sure he knows that. They don't break alignments to the point where the defense just stands there like a statue. The game is horrendous

Yeah there's some serious captain obvious replies in here today but I do agree with you..while it's known to happen in the NFL that motion can screw up a defense, it isn't supposed to be like this. Lol at the MCS at one point a commentator was like "look at Dez setting up his defense...ooooh, Fancy went in motion, it's probably over now" lmao.

The game is a glitchy piece of garbage. Anybody defending it is part of the reason it's like that.

I generally enjoy the game, but there are major issues and the level of effort and improvement is unsatisfactory, in spite of the gameplay being at least occasionally an 11/10. Running into stuff like cheat plays (the very name should've told them something lmao) is when that fun turns into chores. And sometimes that gets just straight dreadful.
The thing is money talks and walks, and power is attained and perpetuated by the parties who have it, manipulating its victims into continuing to support it. Easier to do than admit you have no power.

Anyone with the potential to make it in the NFL could explain simply why the way it breaks in Madden is nothing like the way it breaks in the NFL. Yes, defenses have to adjust to movement before the play same as movement after the play. But you don't have defenders suddenly trying to cover Nowhereville and Haplessland, while safeties and corners in deep coverage assignments bite on routes underneath.
Motion ≠ Induced Amnesia

Literally 9/10 people are running cheat/cheese/exploits online that’s why the online is dead this game sucks
Base align cover 4 and learn how to use switch stick. It's not a great solution but I've tripled the amount of user picks I've gotten this year by running cover 4, understanding what routes beat my defense, and just switching over to other players and covering those routes.
It's pretty rare you can sit in a stock defense without making 4+ adjustments. This is actually a decent year for stock defenses, if someone is flipping and motioning every play definitely get out of man coverages.
I'm not defending the game, I know it's bad, I wish it wasn't like this. But it's either this or CFB, same company so both are bad. Instead of being victims I'd hope to see more people trying to help each other adjust and get better.

I'm with you on all this actually. You're doing it right wanting better things and learning from each other, rather than the pervasive toxicity out there...I also like cover 4 and been working on getting better with switch sticking, and in the meta, yeah, stock man coverage is just suicide right now with the cheat/MTN plays.
I run a decent amount of hybrid coverage..the meta is forcing zone based coverage that isn't even playing well right now, but in a lot of spots it's fairly obvious when a guy has a job from their natural alignment regardless of play art. In those spots I will man those up while keeping the other zones, as one example.
I dunno if I have optimal answers to all this stuff but what I do know is, you can't have everything on defense and you need to make a move and go with it. Just have options for the ones who want to attack outside, or across the middle, etc.

Ya, there will always be people that are just here to vent. That's fine, I'm not here to argue with them. Just from my personal life though I just cannot stand people that live life with a victims mentality. We are all victims of EA and we are just trying to play a game we love and they are ruining it and that sucks, but lets not make it worse. Winning is still fun, and if you learn to play the game in the more effective ways instead of complaining it will ease some of those frustrations.
