Because they've gotten away with treating their customers like shit for years so every year they inch a little closer to the cliff. This may be the year they fall off it completely they certainly have so far.
Read their 2022 annual report. EA focuses on paying their executives (millions) and returning profits to their executive shareholders ($1.5b last year). There is no mention of game quality, growth in R&D, or fan experience. They are purely focused on profits. BTW us, online players generated $4.7b of their $7b in revenue, in case you were wondering if those packs and 10% skim added up to much.
I'm 20+ years in the software business, and never have I seen a mission-critical - (about $2b in revenue) - application released with as many bugs, glitches, and quality issues. The good news is they've figured out how to track, intercept, and penalize you for trading players amongst friends or your farm team. I suspect that was a big focus in their 5% ($369m) R&D budget in 2022.
I have to reboot constantly to stop lag between screen refreshes (it's the only game on my console, so I don't have memory issues). Graphics on the MUT cards is nearly illegible; gameplay is sporadic, and the game hangs and will drop you between half transitions in squad play, even though your teammate stills see you moving around on the field. I've seen a host of other problems also reported by others.
The problem is, they don't care. EA doesn't need to care; we keep coming back and will be back next year. They care about the money and paying their leadership team millions. I challenge you to look at the report and tell me otherwise!

And thanks for sharing this info. Good to know there are people on the forums who actually know what they're talking about since they've been involved in the business for a good amount of time.

I'm sure part of it as well is hiring the cheapest possible labor they can for this sort of work. This is a huge franchise with a massive amount of money behind it that rakes in tens of millions of dollars profit yet I'm almost 99% sure that most of the "development" team are guys either straight out of college or entry level programmers who are probably prone to slip ups as they're just not experienced with doing the work. If they hired more experienced programmers (or just a handful of them just to sort out the issues that may be missed by inexperienced programmers/coders), the game would probably see a drastic improvement, but that would eat into their profit margin, so they'll just keep the same methods they do now unless they start to see a drop in the money they're bringing in.

I have never seen someone have to reboot, seems to be something specific to your setup

If EA wanted to make money, they wouldn’t purposely make solo battles unplayable. They would purposely create a system where the only way to get good rewards is to WIN ONLINE

I agree EA has done a lot of this intentionally which is 🤯 to me, the game essentiall just started. Ea along with others keep saying there working on a fix but there ain't no fix if ea intentionall took it away, we just have to wait for them to decide to figuratively push the button n put everything back in the game... or walk away. 😔

If they did it intentionally, I guarantee they're gonna get a LOT less sales on 24, because people are hitting their breaking point. The NFL needs to cut ties with them.
