Why is MUT such a lag fest - and other games aren't ?

Why is the game like this ? 
Even the menu seems to be slow. If you scroll through your binder, the game literally loads the item pictures one by one, sometimes they dont show up at all. 
Online gameplay almost never feels as crisp as practice mode (other games do this easily) and in stretches it gets so bad that you have massive delay in choosing plays, the pre snap zoom out is a second late, adjustments get completely messed up because inputs dont register, you can't user etc. 
I sometimes have to make little breaks in between pressing buttons so they register and I dont fuck up my whole defense. Its like I'm playing on the WiFi of a gas station. 

I've done anything I can possibly think of with regards to router and WiFi settings + trying hard wired and it just doesn't change anything. 
Switched the game to favoring performance, tried crossplay on/off. 
The PS5 appears to be a little slower than other devices but I got mine running at around 550-600mps down and 40-50 up. 
Thats plenty for every other online game I own to run smoothly with no noticeable difference between online and offline gameplay. 
I could start a game in FIFA right now - same company - and not have this issue, go back to MUT and can't properly scroll through my playcall screen. 
It's driving me absolutely nuts at this point.

So what is it with MUT ? What may be different with the game, their servers or whatever thats causing this? 
I've been reading about this being an issue for people (not everyone but many) on Muthead and Reddit for years. 
I was once told that it could be due to them not having dedicated servers in the EU for Madden but since people from the US are reporting the same stuff this shouldn't be the answer. It does seem to be worse on weekends when everybody is playing. Last 2 weeks I played the majority of my Champs games outside the weekend and went 18-2 and 15-5 (wasn't trying as hard after knowing the rewards), now played 8 games on the weekend and went 3-5 with I'd say 4-5 of these games being so laggy I had no chance of being competitive.

First I thought this was a country issue since I am from Germany but this happens way to often. I am having the same problems that you describe but only if I am able to log in to the EA servers. I am constantly kicked out of them after 10-15min, restart the game and the same happens.

Yup. When the delay is so bad, you cant get the snap off. Especially fun when every RPO is a handoff because the pass wont register.

Does it happen at the worst possible times? 

I've noticed this when I'm playing a playoff game with either my back against the wall or trying to make a last minute comeback. Everything from my playsheet to my players start lagging out.

Nah its def not a situational thing for me that I could tie to certain points in the game. 
It just feels like a latency issue throughout

I also never have an issue on other game.  It happens a lot in madden,  I always think its other people connection.

Because Madden players got the most part have trash internet

Yeah the game lags a lot. It has done this every year I have played. Sometimes it runs pretty well but it's overall pathetically bad tbh. Apparently a real issue (according to a friend) is when different time zones play against each other, particularly east vs west.

Latency and performance, to me, is really the first issue they should be working on. But alas, none of the real issues are going to be on the agenda. It's all about the money, right? Fixing issues like this only costs money in their mind. Because they ignore implied values as a result of better performance, such as more customers playing, word of mouth advertising, higher customer retention/less people quitting mid season etc...lag is something that can add to the myriad of frustrating issues out there, hence cause more people to quit... there's a lot of money to be made in selling digital pixels people will wallet out for though. Pretty simple - always about the money.

Also, yeah, of course they do. They live in America where ISPs are invariably trash. My ISP is famously awful. Case in point, they literally named a "Comcastic" ad campaign after the word "craptastic" one time many years ago. And yet the only other choice here is legitimately a lot worse to the point I probably wouldn't even be able to do my job where I work remotely. At least with Comcast I can at least explain "oh, yeah, that one got dropped because I have comcast and they suck but at least I got back to it within a couple of minutes" and my manager will say "Yeah, I know how it is. I have them myself."

All that said, my ISP is USUALLY not the issue here causing the lag I'm experiencing, because at least 90% of the time I have a pretty solid speed. Everyone gets lag on madden sometimes just like I do, and comcast is far more sporadic and intermittent. Whereas if a game lags from the start on Madden, it's gonna lag the entire time. Comcast isn't that consistent at anything, lmao.

Many times I cant user my players correctly. When I dont have lag the game is much more enjoyable. I thought it was an issue with internet company. Something happening along with the way to EA servers. Still might be and its  impossible for me to fix and probably like finding a needle in a haystack. Not only this, but most of my losses are from lag.  I'm 100-28 in h2h.  At least half of those losses are from lag and I also started NMS with a bad team about 3 weeks ago. 

Yesterday while all the NFL games where on I jumped on and played and had considerably less lag. Menus loaded fast. So much better.  I've also played when EA had a server outage and most people went out and did something else instead of play Madden, and when the servers came back online I jumped on and zero lag.  These were times when the servers were less busy. 

Not sure if my internet is the issue or Madden servers. I do know most people don't have as much lag as I do. Sometimes its almost impossible to move my defensive user. Like they're stuck in quick sand.  I do feel there is soemthing wrong with my internet. I've had 4 technicians out to my house in the past 2 years. They say its all good. Not really believing them. I watch others gameplay and they i can see some similarities in laggy movement, but not near as much as mine. Example being....throwing a high pass and trying to rocket catch and my input doesn't go through.  Have another technician coming this Wednesday. Gonna keep rolling them trucks out here....😆

FWIW I never drop below an "average" score. Bounces around from great to average. 

However, I do notice when Madden is lagging, most of the time everythin  on XBOX is laggy as well for me. Messaging, typing, you name it.

I'm on PC myself. There are times it runs really well for me. There are times it lags horribly. If it were more consistently performing, I would be so happy. It's sad.

I believe it is because the EA servers for MUT barely keep up with the load.  

If you aren't active, the server dumps you to conserve the precious little amount of bandwidth EA can gain by removing an inactive account.

EA will also dump you if they determine your response time is too slow.  

The simple solution is $$$ for faster servers.  The simple answer is that EA ain't spending the money.

I forgot to mention an important point, but this post gets into it a little. I do believe MUT itself appears to lag more. I've tested gameplay in whatever that non MUT quick play thing is a handful of times and it does seem smoother there. MUT has a lot more data to handle but clearly it needs a server upgrade no matter how you slice it. Probably hasn't been upgraded in the entire history of MUT, I'm guessing.
