I'd say only in MUT.
Maybe nerf some, remove freight train, and a couple other op ones, make some customs for players.
oh yeah. AVOID MAKING RAC EM UP.

Not completely. Just get rid of discounted abilities and maybe even do what they did in madden 20 with only three players who get abilities. I that having to pick a card based solely on what discounted abilities it gets is so stupid.
I wouldn't remove them I would have a somewhat similar system to regs. I would have it be 90-94s get one bucket with all abilities available but they cost full price obviously but having the ability cap lower for your team. Then I would have 95-98s be two buckets with everything available still but have a ability cap update when 95s start releasing. Then for 99s have them get three buckets and update the ability caps again. For QBs I would have Three buckets for 90-94s (Fearless/HRM, SFL/PLE, Slinger) Then have 95-98s get 4 buckets and 99s getting 5 buckets. This makes it where there is still a difference in OVRs and abilities are not the only thing that run the game. Every ability is full cost no matter what and only late into the game cycle will you get into every card having OP abilities. This system would make it crucial your abilities fit your playstyle and you would have to make sacrifices to run abilities you feel are more important.

Which is great. Now you can use your favorite players and not have to worry if they have the right abilities
FirefighterBuell said:How many really think it would be a better gaming experience? I say yes.
I don't think they need to get rid of them, but I do think they need to get rid of discounted abilities forever.
Yes! The game isn't even a football game, it's just an ability game. Almost all football knowledge is useless anymore. People just rely on broken plays and broken abilities. I wouldnt mind the 3 players on each side of the ball but thats all I would add.
In my opinion I think they just put stuff out too fast , last year we barely were getting 0 ap abilities and we got our first 0 ap ability in what November? They need too NERF KO’S. Aka X factors ruined the game I will say but that doesn’t mean it was good before. I think certain players deserve the X factor like “ King Henry “ where in his case it makes sense.
reading through alot of these and having my own opinion on a lot of the ability stuff makes me think the way madden 20 had the ability system set up was probably the best way it can be done in mut 3 players with abilities on each side of the ball. it makes it so not all cards just preform the same by making 3 players really stand out and it can somewhat make things realistic for people who care about that. no NFL team has 11 dudes who are just stand out players like we have in madden rn with all 11 being able to get abilities, most teams do have a few players like that though. having 3 players activated would make the most sense and create a better way to have the system. have all of your dbs or wr be juiced up with whatever KO and pick artist and arcobat is stupid when you should maybe only have 1/3 ability players as a db causing your opponent to worry about that one player or causing you to only fear throwing his way when you know he is juiced up. right now everyone has to worry about getting knocked out no matter where they throw. or having a wr activated it makes him now better then all the other wr which also makes him have more value then every wr and every db being the same with RT/SIE/SOE and the different KOs.
I mean, do folks want an actual fatball simulation or some type of MMORPG? Madden `23 sucks at both. There's mad potential for either path forward and both could be viable options if implemented properly, but at this point i hold out basically zero hope that `24 will be "transformational" or whatever the make or break language means from EA. They're going to continue to prioritize the wrong things, such as micro-transactions and have built a devoted following of gambling addicts. You cannot watch a single Madden related video without getting blasted with gambling ads.
I'm just a grumpy old man, but i came back to Madden after decade(s) away hoping or expecting to check out a 21st century football simulator. It has been anything but. It took my liek a ~month to figure out what X-factors were, or truly how important all the abilities are. The game basically hinges on whether or not your DBs trigger an animation or the Receiver ultimately gets lucky with a bomb over the top. Sure, there's tons of skilled players, but FAR too much opportunity for nonsensical Quadfather style cheese. I'm glad running the ball is a viable option, but we have basically three choices for top tier RBs in the ENTIRE game; Quadfather, Flash & Gus. If you're using anyone else, you're probably doing it wrong. That's how much abilities matter.
The content has totally regressed of late. New promos are cool, but lack of dual 0AP Ability buckets makes them a lot less viable. I want Deebo on my roster, but won't be able to justify ~2M for an average WR3(ish). Golden 99 OVR rating is nonsense and basically meaningless. Randy is better. Calvin is WAY better. Heck Vernon Davis will break more tackles.
I couldn't pass the ball when i first started playing the game, because i didn't realize how important SFL/PLE was. Made my entire passing game basically unusable, balls just floated out there and were constantly picked. Hope i'm in the minority here. Sorry in advance for being grumpy, i cannot help myself, or so it seems.
theprodigy said:Yes, it would make the game actually require skill.
there still is skill involved with abilities but some abilities create more luck like fright train and stuff like that

congrats on writing all this but i must know how long did it take?
the chance of this actually happening is very very slim
We should go back to the madden 20 way where you only had 3 ability players on each side of the ball.

I type liek ~120WPM, so i dunno, you can (maybe) count the words and do the math... if they teach stuff liek basic math in Phillie. Congrats if you figure that you, you deserve a cookie.
