I use one but don’t use any features. There is no benifit.

It doesn't really, you can adjust the sticks sensitivity or program the paddles if it's more comfortable for you (player preference).
If you want any kind of advantage use a wired controller

Is this still an actual thing? I remember hearing about the wireless lag in signal but figured it was made to be unnoticeable by now with technology.l by now.

Wireless controller lag has gotten dramatically better, just like TV's vs monitors input lag.
Casual gaming no issues with either, but if you want a competitive edge you need a wired controller.
Test it out, I get noticeably more lurks with wired. That's where it shines for me.
