I'm not 100% certain this was the play (Speed Option), but am fairly confident. Appears only in Chiefs & Commanders playbooks. I was absolutely nerd-raging late last evening when I encountered a chode running the exact same damn cheese play over and over nearly all game. Approaching the second half, when the clock was running out, he'd be forced to try and pass, at which point I'd either pick the ball off, or tackle his pathetic screen attempts for a short loss. I suffered through four quarters of this and ended up losing by a TD.
What coaching adjustments (or schemes) would help? For the first time EVER, i actually used the "Aggressive" read option coaching adjustment, which seemed to improve things slightly, but dude was able to get to the edges nearly every down. If an opponent is able to gain 4-5 yards almost every single play, what are some effective counters? This was THE single most maddening experience i've had all year. I want to reach through the screen and choke a bitch. The only variation from this turd was to change which direction the play ran. I tried a bunch of different zone defenses, such as Tampa 2, often out of Nickel, or 3-3 Cub... however, nothing was particularly effective.
I had been bouncing back and forth between Chiefs & 46 defensive playbooks, but didn't have 4-3 Even 6-1 formation against this douche-nozzle, as i was intending to check out some new Dollar formation to see if I could generate organic pressure up the gut only rushing four defenders and dropping back in Zone coverage.
Here's my lineup, in case that helps determine scheme or formation / suggestions. Any experience or pro-tips would be greatly appreciated. This was somehow far worse than the first time i faced Gun Monster and dudes trying to space out my defense to run up the gut over and over. As far as ability stack, after getting decimated, i went and added Vita Vea for a cheap Inside Stuff ability, i've got Pick Artist on both deep Safeties, then rounded out the rest of the 9AP with Lurk Artist (x3) across; Tate, Crowder & Walker.
Extremely frustrated I managed to lose that one, kid was mostly terrible if that wasn't already obvious. Although, i heard there was some cheese in MCS, guess i need to go back and re-watch the full stream, to see what i can learn. Thanks in advance for anyone who can nudge me in the proper direction. Have fun, be safe out there.
Ohh, one last point to make -- dude was doing the little jump-pitch on every Speed Option play, to ensure he got the ball out there. Even if he fucked up 1 or 2 plays per series, he'd still managed to get 4-5 yards every time, so the number of stops I got was embarrassingly low, even by Madden `24 standards, where defense is already tedious enough and basically non-existent.
