MLB Trade Deadline Discussion

The MLB Trade Deadline is set to come and pass on August 2nd at 6 PM EST. I'm going to try to keep this thread updated over the next 30ish hours of trades that are happening. 

Trades that have happened:

8/2

Brandon Drury traded from Cincinnati to San Diego

Mariners acquiring catcher Curt Casali from Giants

Tyler Mahle has been traded from Cincinnati to Minnesota

David Robertson traded from Chicago to Philadelphia

Phillies acquire Brandon Marsh from LAA for their top catching prospect

Yankees trade Joey Gallo to the Dodgers

San Diego traded disgruntled 1B Eric Hosmer to Red Sox

Nationals and Padres pull off biggest trade in MLB History, sending Juan Soto and Josh Bell to San Diego for  SS CJ Abrams, OF Robert Hassell and James Wood, and pitchers McKenzie Gore and Jarlin Susana, along with 1B Eric Hosmer (Update: Hosmer has declined the trade, deal is still going through without him, exact deal not yet known now)

Jorge Lopez traded from Baltimore to Minnesota for prospects

8/1 or Before

Braves acquire Robbie Grossman from Detriot

Braves trade Will Smith to Astros for Jake Odorizzi

Cardinals acquire Jose Quintania from Pittsburgh

Tommy Pham traded from Cincinnati to Boston

Astros acquire Christian Vazquez from Red Sox

Astros acquire Trey Mancini from Baltimore

Yankees acquire SP Frankie Montas and CP Lou Trivino from Oakland

Josh Hader traded from Milwaukee to San Diego for Taylor Rogers, Dinelson Lamet, and 2 prospects

Andrew Benintendi traded from Kansas City to New York Yankees for prospects

Yankees acquire Scott Efforss from Cubs for the Yankees' #7 prospect

Rays acquire David Peralta from the Diamondbacks

Reds trade Luis Castillo to Seattle for 4 of their top 5 prospects

Trades that aren't happening

Shohei Ohtani will remain an Angel until at least the end of the season

Zack Greinke will not be traded by Kansas City today

After much talk, Tyler Skubal will stay in Detroit

Juan Soto Watch

Dodgers, Cardinals, and Padres are the 3 teams in the race for Soto. It is believed the trade will come down to the deadline, if a deal happens at all.

AS OF 8/2: Sources believe Soto will be traded today. Padres the current front runner, but expect all teams to make a late push.

8/2 10:55 AM CST : Soto and Bell are going to be Padres

Contract Extensions....Because Why Not?!?

Braves extend Austin Riley with a 10 year, $212 mil extension

Padres extend Joe Musgrove with a 5 year, $100 mil extension

Trades are now starting to roll in! Montas to the Yankees and Trey Mancini to Houston

That Soto trade rumor is all over the place. I wouldn't be surprised if he just stays.

That is my current guess as well. Would love him in Cardinal red, but Nationals really shouldn't have the motivation to move him until this winter.
