Tyreek Hill has already expressed interest in forming a super team for Olympic Flag Football out of current NFL players. Keep in mind these are 12 team rosters, with five players allowed on the field for each team at once.
Who would you have on the NFL super team? I'm assuming Tyreek Hill is going to participate.
My 12 team super team:
QB: Lamar Jackson. I feel like a more athletic quarterback would be beneficial. Quarterbacks cannot scramble past the line of scrimmage, but multiple direct handoffs are allowed so he could potentially be dangerous in a two-handoff play.
C: Kyle Pitts. Currently the fastest TE in the league, and I feel like a TE would be great for a position which snaps the ball but is still an eligible receiver after the snap. Plus he's a good jump ball threat.
WRs: Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Deebo Samuel. Tyreek and Jaylen have Olympic-level speed that I don't think most countries will be able to guard, and Deebo is essentially a hybrid who is incredibly elusive and can take handoffs as a back.
Flex (Offense Sixth Man): Justin Fields. I feel like another quarterback would be important, and Justin Fields would definitely be fast enough with a good arm. He could play a little bit of everything (I don't know how good he is at catching but he could definitely take handoffs.)
DBs: Jalen Ramsey, Tariq Woolen. Basically an incredible corner and a speed demon with height. Both should dominate.
Safeties: Justin Reid, Jevon Holland. Just looking for good speed here. Plus I feel like Tyreek will be able to convince more Dolphins to join than other teams.
Rusher: Micah Parsons. Pass rush is weird in Flag Football, so again, just need someone fast since the pass rusher lines up seven yards from the line of scrimmage. Plus Parsons is good in coverage.
Flex (Defensive Sixth Man): Roquan Smith. I feel like a fast enough linebacker with good coverage might be beneficial here, and he can essentially play any position on the defense. If not him, then maybe Jeremiah Owusu-Koromoah.
