It’s is very much this simple. I literally do not play solo battles or most solos for this exact reasoning. 
 

you can view rewards beforehand. The choice is always yours if you want to commit the time to achieve them.

Nobody forcing anybody to play. Just dont play if you don’t want to?

On PS... You used to be able to do this from another account, then switch back to your main after you activate the new 10 hour trial, and the hours would carry over. But I’m not sure if that still works.
