Shade underneath for hard flats. Add two flat zone kos , and they won’t dare throw to the flats.
If you’re playing against a guy that throws out routes a lot, he’s probably patient and disciplined.
i would suggest calling cover 2 and shading down (this means the sidelines will be open downfield so be careful)
you could also try calling cover 3 hard flat.
Cover 3 hard flat is easily beatable with inside breaking routes. Shading down, as you said, is also easy to counter by throwing deep. Even If you're running two or three deep zones they can just throw the ball before the receivers get around the deep zones. I also can't just change my entire defensive scheme for a play my opponent may call.
Thanks for the help, though.

I don’t ever run cover 3. Also, shading down only changes the flats in zone (quarters). It doesn’t change anything over the top. No sure why you would think that
I’m not trying to be cocky but , I don’t have issues . People generally dont score on me. I run match quarters and shade underneath every single time for hard flats. 4 deep out ko & Midzone on the outside 1/4CB will take care of the quarter flat your leaving open when you shade underneath.
Only bad part is the hard flat defender won’t match anymore, and you have to carry any crossers with the 3 rec that might end up in a quarter flat.
i literally shut down gun tight every single game with this exact formula. bench? pa seams? Saints wheel, all bagged.
kos everywhere, nobody gets anything.
guessing you run man, that your problem lol

I also run match cover 4 quarters and I shut down most of the meta plays. I however can't seem to stop pa seams if the slot reciever running the skinny corner route has short in or route tech. Is there any way you do that?

Yeah. Not going to lie, when they add abilities like route tech/matchup nightmare (toxic) that’s one of the hardest things to deal with. Besides that cheesy TE streak that the cpu can barely cover.
I usually put the safety opposite the rb ( weak side safety) on a outside third. Base align, then shade under as usual. Keep a knockout on the defender to counter him or cover him yourself .
but be careful, smart players/ habitual gun tight spammers will eventually send that slot receiver on a streak if they realize you keep putting the weak side safety on a outside third.
another thing I really hate when after I make adjustments people flip the play, which only moves the rb from the right to the left. Only takes 1 second and they can snap right after. it completely makes my adjustments trash And forces you to reset the play.

play cover 6 with the cover 2 over the weak side, deep half will match the deep corner but the ability wont light up.

you have to be careful shading down match because it turns off your quarter flats, while this is good against plays like bench, in other situations the quarter flats are supposed to match corners and posts from the number 2 receiver on their side. Also if they send the hb out on a wheel or streak he wont be matched and its an easy lob TD. Same with against Trips sets, you change your quarter flat on the 3 receiver side into a hard flat and the middle receiver isn't matched, so a play like verticals is once again a easy lob TD.
I run all match quarters, palms, cover 6 and some cover 3 match, and I rarely shade unless I know for sure its bench, and even then I'd rather play cover 6 and user the other flat. It's just something you have to be aware of like the bunch bomb and pick our moments.

This is why no defense is perfect lol. Nothing will ever guard everything.

If u shade down in match quarters then the flats won’t guard things like run wheel Routes and there will be a lot of touchdown

If they keep doing that, change ur corner in man to a hard flat.
u could also run pressed cover 3 with flat zone KOs on outside corners
or u could run cover 3 cloud shaded down

Alright, thanks. Definitely will try it out.
