Public Service Announcement -- *BEST* Safety in-game currently?

I totally missed this, so perhaps the information might be useful to others.  Ji`Ayir Brown managed to hit the in-game achievements (7 solo tackles, plus 1 pick) during the Superbowl, so he now gets Deep Zone KO (which is both Deep In & Deep Out Zone KOs) for a mere 1AP, including free 0AP Pick Artist on top.  Because of this, I would confidently suggest he's now as good, perhaps even better than Kam Chancellor at a fraction of the cost (unless you are running a Light it Up: Past X-factor token on bam bam Kam).  And doesn't require the steep upgrade costs of Genki Force (such as Kevin Byard or Derwin James), making him widely accessible.

Or you can choose to run Brown's 1AP Flat Zone KO, as i have.  Had been running him as a Slot corner for a while, he's super versatile, can improve almost any defensive backfield.  Especially if you are running Superbowl theme team.

Hope that helps improve someone's situation for under ~400k coins (on PS5).  Not an LTD, anyone can build (or buy) the set pieces.  Good luck, have fun fam!

Random question I just built him for about 310k myself for the abilities and was deciding where to play him and peppers. I kinda wanted brown to play slot with his size but if I remember it wouldn’t let me put a safety in at slcb. Do you sub in game for that or am I just tripping and you can put him in? or if you have the secondary cb chem does that change it?

Nevermind I don’t know why I never looked at the depth chart in game.  I can see all my safety’s now with their true overall And can put them In the slot.

My best base defense utilizes him at SS he is insane he makes so many plays but so does Lott and Kam at SubLb 1 and The MCS OOP FS whose name eludes me right now at SubLb2

He has been so good for me, It feels like the SB players ruined some of the new players because they're so good

It's definitely a little janky.  For quick game modes this can be a real drag, having to set roster adjustments / substitutions each and every single game.  In these particular instances, I've placed Ji`Ayir as CB3 (in addition to SS2 for team chems) and I only place a single (Williams) slot receiver in the actual menu options, leaving Slot2 corner empty / blank.  This will typically place Brown into the Slot2 corner.  It's hardly perfect, but the best / fastest workaround I've managed to find.

I was extremely frustrated, same as you were back when i tried to run Ronnie Lott's All-Madden card, he got CB as secondary position, however, we still couldn't place him as a Slot corner.  Oof.  Glad you figured it out, that's basically what i'm doing, as well.  Subbing in manually.

Bonus points for Brown as a blitzing corner from the Slot.  His PMV/FMV are at or above 71, so he does not suffer from fatigue penalties in the same way that Kam Chancellor does.  I've used Brown almost everywhere (except outside corner, but he'd also be fantastic there)... he's really only missing that extreme height to be truly elite in every single aspect.

He played so well last year up top on my rookie premier so I gotta have him! He’s so great up top and in the slot

Chase Young has impressive stats for a pass rusher, but his ability stack holds him back, at least when directly compared with the other (especially Unstoppable Force) options we have on the D-line.  For the record, i'm still running: 70/70 Superbowl, 25/50 49ers & 6/6 AKA Crews (Y2K) hybrid theme team.  I doubt you'll regret taking Brown with that choice, especially if running Niners theme team.

Right on, i've been controlling Donald Parham Jr. (the 6'8" monster roaming the field) as my primary SUBLB since demoting Chuck Howley to SUBLB2, who became my primary A-gap blitzer, although once in a blue moon i'll drop 8 into coverage and end up controlling him.  Both are blazing fast at 98 SPD, with high Change of Direction, so it's nice having two excellent USER options.  There is certainly no shortage of top-end, elite Safeties in the game right now.

Not at all you have Kam, Ji’Ayir Brown, Donald Parham jr., Ronnie Lott and that’s just who is on the field for me Hooker and Neal from the Playoff promo are excellent and Derwin James from the Genki Force promo. Safety might be the position of least concern.
