KO's need to be gone. It actually takes away from learning football concepts that work against certain coverages. If you know the Smash concept beats cover 2 and you make the right read, well, it should not be saved by a KO ability.
KO is complete arcade BS. Same with X factors that start on. Film Study and Omaha can go away too.

Abilities in this game are either extremely broken or extremely useless.
KO should not exist. Far superior offensive players drop balls 1v1 to any DB with KO on. My 99 Moss should not drop 1v1 balls at the rate he does. Even with Double Me as an x-factor.
Then on the other side the same DBs are IMMUNE to drops when they make user INTs. Youre telling me a 99 OVR WR is going to drop a 1v1 ball due to a KO but that same 96+ DB can leap over top of whoever they are defending and make the INT? I have always had an issue with DBs ability to moss WRs when that WR is a higher OVR and will drop any pass due to KO.
KO is absurdly broken. Don't even get me started on Freight Train X Factor. Truzz also should not be in game. Being immune to fumbles is just silly.

Pretty good rant, i support, if not wholly agree, with pretty much everything "ranted" about above. And don't get me started with the game-breaking level economy glitches that seem to happen with each and every promo. Guess i snoozed through whatever went down this mr0ning, but i was expecting Deebo to cost liek 2M coins with no TVPs.

I'm just a grumpy old man, but i came back to Madden after decade(s) away hoping or expecting to check out a 21st century football simulator. It has been anything but. It took my liek a ~month to figure out what X-factors were, or truly how important all the abilities are. The game basically hinges on whether or not your DBs trigger an animation or the Receiver ultimately gets lucky with a bomb over the top. Sure, there's tons of skilled players, but FAR too much opportunity for nonsensical Quadfather style cheese. I'm glad running the ball is a viable option, but we have basically three choices for top tier RBs in the ENTIRE game; Quadfather, Flash & Gus. If you're using anyone else, you're probably doing it wrong. That's how much abilities matter.
The content has totally regressed of late. New promos are cool, but lack of dual 0AP Ability buckets makes them a lot less viable. I want Deebo on my roster, but won't be able to justify ~2M for an average WR3(ish). Golden 99 OVR rating is nonsense and basically meaningless. Randy is better. Calvin is WAY better. Heck Vernon Davis will break more tackles.
I couldn't pass the ball when i first started playing the game, because i didn't realize how important SFL/PLE was. Made my entire passing game basically unusable, balls just floated out there and were constantly picked. Hope i'm in the minority here. Sorry in advance for being grumpy, i cannot help myself, or so it seems.
the 2 ability bucket 0 ap stuff should 100% be on every golf 99 at this point it just makes no sense that a 95 and a 99 have the same ability bucket amounts and get identical ability discounts at this point. I would also much rather just have the madden 20 system where the lower overalls get like 2 or 3 ability slots then like 97 or 98 plus get 4 and the gold 99 players get 5 I'm pretty sure that how it was I loved that system it also made the archetypes of the players matter a lot more with the discounted abilities it kinda makes there be no point for archetypes at this point In MUT

Thanks for chiming in here, hard to dispute anything you mention. I don't have any historical context, i only played a few games of Madden `22 with my child before he finally convinced us to purchase ($35 Black Friday sales) Madden `23 upgrade, then it took me another ~month from there to start dabbling with a MUT team. You are not the first person i've heard reference that `20 style tiered system, which makes sense.
At this point i'm feeling liek i've basically maxed out my team. Sure we get new QB drops every week, but i'm not EVER going to see a RB that's as good as Flash, unless something changes. Even Golden Tickets will only get a single discounted ability bucket, then have liek 5 options for all the various 1AP options. That seems to me we're going backwards with the content. Ring of Honor will remain best in class for that very reason, same with the X-factor abilities, nothing EA releases from this point out will be an upgrade. Kids seem to go bonkers for that golden 99 rating, but it's all basically meaningless. My 93 OVR Reggie White FA at DT i'd put up against any single card in the entire game, shy of X-factors. He gets three abilities for a mere 1AP and damn good ones, too. And the Deebo i added to my roster this morning gets, uhhh... Matchup Nightmare for 0AP, which will ultimately be the ONLY ability i run on him the entire game, because points are spread so thin. I don't feel liek i can give up the Secure Protector (x5) across my O-line, for a total of 3AP, plus other must have abilities. Ceedee Lamb will remain the best WR in the entire game, due to getting both SIE & SOE for 0AP. Pop Quiz: How will EA ever top that? They won't. YMMV.

moss got a step on cd IMO him are Carmicheal are neck and neck but the lack of double 0 ap buckets as the game ages creates 0 advantage for the new gold 99s to be better then 97/98 overall players because they're all the same so there is no point in upgrading players at this point unless they have the dual 0 ap buckets or like a corner with OSA for 1 rn there is only pat pet but id expect moss and carmicheal corner to have that aswell. also golden tickets coming out in probably may is just so late and honestly they're supposed to be the best cards in the game with the exception to a few cards that can compete with them but like they really wont even stand out that much outside of their size being insane at their OOP but that is only a few some of these GT with be pointless and be as good as every other card unless they get the dual 0 ap buckets which is prolly not even happening or might I forgot if they get 2 or not that would literally be the only thing that would make these cards anything
the ability system is also broken the stats on players for abilities used to actually matter but now they all just get everything besides like run support safteys ea just picks and chooses who gets what and how cheap the ability will be a player can be bad and just get bailed out by ea saying they get like RT for 1 instead of them truly not having that stats or like ETE most of these d linman suck and they just get ETE for 0 just cause when they prolly shouldn't even have the ability
